애니메이션에서 선을 활용한 캐릭터의 감정표현 연구 (A Study on the Characters’ Expression of Emotion using Lines in Animation)

초록

최근의 애니메이션은 창조적인 작업으로 인정받고, 관객들의 지속적인 관심을 갖게 하기 위하여 새롭고 개성있는 기법들을 여러 방면에서 연구하고 있다. 이 개성 있는 기법들의 연구와 발전은 애니메이션의 재미와예술성 면에서 성공적인 사례들을 만들어 가고 있다. 애니메이션이 성공하기 위해서는 여러 가지 요소들 중 애니메이션의 캐릭터가 특정한 상황에서 느끼게 되는 감정이 관객에게 효과적으로 전달되어 몰입하게 만드는 것이 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 일본은 만화 매체를 원작으로 애니메이션을 제작하는 방식을 채택하여 성공을 하였고 만화 매체를 애니메이션으로 제작하는 과정에서 만화 매체의 기법들이 자연스럽게 애니메이션에서 활용되었다. 만화 매체의 기법이 애니메이션에서 적용된 사례 중 캐릭터의 감정 표현에 선을 활용한 기법을 연구하였다. 캐릭터의 감정표현에 활용된 다양한 선이 관객에게 몰입을 유도할 수 있는 중요한 요소라고 생각하였고 캐릭터의 감정표현에 활용된 다양한 선의 특성을 연구하여 정리하며 그 특성들을 논의하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 만화 매체에서 캐릭터의배경에 활용된 선을 배경선, 캐릭터의 동작에 활용된 선을 집중선과 동작선이라고 하며 이 선들이 애니메이션 영화에 활용된 장면을 제시하고 특성을 분석하였다. 애니메이션에서 감정표현의 의미를 설명하고 감정표현의 다섯 가지 감정 요소인 기쁨, 슬픔, 분노, 놀라움, 공포로 분류하였다. 캐릭터의 배경에 활용된 선과 동작에 활용된 선을 감정표현의 다섯 가지 감정 요소를 사례로 연구 분석하였다. 본 연구는 애니메이션 캐릭터가 감정을 표현하는 데 중요한 기법으로 선을 활용한 사례를 분석하였다. 애니메이션에서 캐릭터의 감정이 표현되는 장면에서 선을 적절하게 배치함으로써 복잡하고 표현하기 힘든 캐릭터의 감정을 명확하게 또는 간단하게 표현하고 효과적으로 관객에게전달하고 있었다. 이러한 선의 특성과 장점을 효과적으로 활용하여 캐릭터의 감정과 메시지를 관객에게 전달하여애니메이션이 좀 더 많은 관객들에게 재미뿐만 아니라, 창조적인 작품으로써 인정받기를 기대한다.

영어초록

These days, animation professionals are studying the new and unique techniques to ensure that the viewers will continue to be interested. Study and advancement of these unique techniques are creating successful cases in terms of the fun and artistic value aspects. In order for an animation to succeed, it is necessary to help the viewers to get immersed by effectively delivering the emotion that the characters in the animation feel among the many elements. Japan succeeded by adopting the method of producing animation with the published cartoon as the original work, and the techniques used for the publication of cartoons were used naturally in the animation as well during the process of producing animation with published cartoons. This research studied the technique of using line to express the emotion of the characters among the techniques used for animation among the published cartoon. It is believed that the diverse lines used for the expression of characters’ emotion are the important elements that can lead to immersion by the viewers. Likewise, characteristics of the diverse lines used for the expression of characters’ emotion were organized, to discuss these characteristics. If the lines used for the background in the published cartoon and for the characters’movement are called the background line, focus line and movement line, the scenes in which these lines were used in the animation films were presented and the characteristics were analyzed. Moreover, the meaning of the expression of emotion in the animation is explained, and the emotions were classified into five emotions, happiness, sadness,anger, amazement and fear. Study was conducted by having the lines used for the characters’ background and the lines that were used for the movement as the five emotional elements of the expression of emotion. This research studied the case studies in which lines were used as an important technique for expressing the emotion of the animation characters. The study demonstrated that the characters’ emotion that is difficult to express is expressed in a clear, clear and effective manner to the viewers by placing the lines appropriately in the scenes where characters’ emotion is expressed in the animation. Hopefully, animations will be loved even more by the viewers by leveraging these lines’ characteristics and strengths effectively, and by communication characters’emotion and details effectively to the viewers.
