초록

임진왜란 거북선 복원은 「이충무공전서」에 실려 있는 1795년 당시의 통제영․ 전라좌수영 두 거북선의 그림과 설명문, 임진왜란 당시의 전황기록 등 분석된 자료를 토대로 복원하게 되는데 현재까지 복원되는 거북선들은 원형에서 벗어나 이전보다 더 다양한 형태와 구조로 만들어지고 있고 결과는 설득력을 얻지 못하고 있다. 그동안 거북선의 복원을 위해 지속적인 연구가 진행되어 왔지만 합일점을 찾지 못하는 이유는 임진왜란 거북선에 관한 구체적인 자료의 부족과 대안 없는 주장만 있어 논쟁이 지속되고 있는 것이다. 또한 거북선 복원에 관련해 다양한 학문분야에서 폭넓게 연구가 이루어지지 못했던 것도 현재의 원형복원 상황과 무관하지 않다. 길이가 20여 미터의 크기, 항해, 해상전투를 위한 구조와 무기의 사용, 130여명의 승조원이 노를 젓고, 전투를 벌이는 거북선에 대한 연구는 전해 내려오는 문헌자료만으로는 원형을 찾기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 임진왜란 거북선의 선형과 내부구조에 관한 연구를 위해 문헌, 선행연구자료, 3D 컴퓨터그래픽을 활용한 실재크기의 시뮬레이션으로 임진왜란 거북선의 형태와 내부구조를 임무수행을 위한 동선, 공간을 중심으로 분석하였다.
임진왜란 거북선은 3층 구조이고, 당시의 기록에 전해오는 14개의 포구멍은 용머리. 꼬리 밑, 개판 좌우에 있는 포구멍의 수이고 추가로 거북선 2층 방패에 있는 포구멍의 수를 포함하면 더 많은 수의 포구멍이 있는 것으로 추정된다. 수군조련도, 이순신 종가의 거북선 그림에 그려져 있는 개판위의 장대는 새로운 유형의 거북선이 아니고 수군의 훈련과정에서 지휘관의 상황파악과 지휘를 위해 거북선 개판위에 장대를 설치한 것으로 훈련 후 해체되는 임시 구조물이라고 할 수 있다.

Restoration of the Turtle Ship of the Imjin War will be restored based on the analyzed data, e.g. the picture and the explanatory note of the two Turtle ships of Tongjeyeong ․ Jeolla Jwasuyeong, record of the Imjin war situation at that time, etc. in 1795, which was included in 「Lee Chungmugong Jeonseo」, the Turtle Ships restored until now have been made in more various shapes and structures than before, getting out of the original shape, accordingly, the outputs are not getting persuasive power. Meanwhile there have been continuous researches for the restoration of the Turtle Ship, however the reason of not finding point of agreement is lack of concrete data on the Turtle Ship of Imjin War and continued dispute due to the existence of mere insistence without any alternative. Also, the point that researches on the restoration of the Turtle Ship have not been performed widely in various academic fields related to the restoration of the Turtle Ship is concerned with the present situation of the restoration of the original form. It is difficult to search for the original form of the Turtle Ship with only the literature materials including the researches, which are come down, on the Turtle Ship, e.g. about 20-meter length, sailing, the structure and weapon for naval battle, rowed by 130 crewmen, and the battle of the Turtle Ship. This research analyzed the shape, structure, moving line, and space through simulation of the actual size utilizing the literature, advanced research data, and 3D computer graphic, for the research on the shape and interior structure of the Turtle Ship of the Imjin War.
The Turtle Ship of the Imjin War is of 3-story structure, 14 ordnance holes, come down from the record of the Imjin War, are the number of the ordnance holes in the dragon head, tail, and on the left and right of the cover, in addition, it is assumed that there were more ordnance holes, if those on the shield of the Turtle Ship are counted. The rod on the cover, described in Sugunjoryeondo, the picture of the Turtle Ship of Yi, Sun-Sin's head family, can be said to be a temporary structure, which was installed and disassembled for the commander's control and direction in the process of training the naval forces mobilized to the Turtle Ship, not the new type of the Turtle Ship.
