禪詩와 時調의 交涉 片鱗 (A study on the relational aspect of Zen Poetry and Sijo)

초록

이 고찰에서는 月山大君(1454-1488)의 작품이라고 일컫는 시조 1수와, 『金剛經五家解』에 수록된 冶父의 頌인 禪詩 1수를 비교 고찰하였다. 이 두 작품은 발상과 겉내용이 아주 흡사하여 영향을 주고받았을 것으로 짐작되지만, 현재 그 사실을 확인할 수 있는 정확한 자료가 없어 결정적인 판단은 할 수 없다.
두 작품을 비교하기 위하여 세 가지의 분석 방법을 동일하게 적용하였다. 첫째는 글감의 짜임 분석으로, 글감들을 작품 문맥의 흐름에 맞추면서 글감들 사이의 밀접한 상관성에 따라 이어지고 벌어지는 양상을 살피는 방법이다. 둘째는 문맥의 짜임 분석으로, 각 문장들 또는 일부 글감들이 앞뒤의 문장들과 의미와 구실로 서로 긴밀한 관계를 맺으면서 전개되어 나가는 양상을 살피는 방법이다. 셋째는 의미 짜임과 형상화 기법 분석이다. 형상화는 作意를 적절하게 엮어내기 위하여 참신한 의미를 생성하는 기법이며, 의미 짜임은 작품 전체의 유기적인 짜임새를 이루는 기법이다.
두 작품은 作意는 서로 다르지만, ‘낚시’와 ‘빈 배’가 작의를 형상화하는 중요한 글감이다. 이 두 글감을 중심으로 글감들과 문맥의 짜임, 그리고 문맥에서의 글감들의 의미와 구실을 파악하였다. 짜임새의 틀은 비슷하여도 같은 글감 및 흡사한 표현의 의미와 구실이 서로 다른 양상은 작의가 서로 다름에서 비롯된 것이다. 시조의 작의는 노년기나 은퇴시기를 맞아 그 동안의 생활을 정리하고 다른 욕심 없이 여생을 보내기로 작정한 歸去來의 無心한 마음이고, 선시의 작의는 궁극적인 깨달음(淸淨妙覺本性)이다.
두 작품을 비교한 결과로써 각각의 특징을 말하면 다음과 같다. 시조는 짜임새가 선시보다 복잡하면서도 얽어 짜는 기법이 뛰어나다. 즉, 초ㆍ중ㆍ종장의 後半句에 표면적인 문맥의 중심 흐름(차다 - 고기 안 물다 - 빈 배)을 배치하여 독자가 作意를 알아챌 수 있을 만큼 속뜻을 屈折시켜 살짝 가려놓는 기법을 썼다면, 前半句에는 속뜻을 풀 수 있는 글감들(秋ㆍ낚시ㆍ無心)을 깔아놓되 作意를 쉽사리 알아챌 수 없도록 變形시켜 속뜻을 감추는 기법을 썼다. 이 기법은 문맥 짜임의 효과와 詩的 表現美를 잘 살린 作法이라 할 수 있다.
선시는 글감 및 표현의 사용이 시조보다 다양한 기법을 보인다. ‘夜(靜)’ - ‘水(寒)’ - ‘魚(不食)’처럼 수직적 관계(허공 - 수면 - 물속) 및 공간의 크고 작은 관계(밤 - 밤물 - 물속의 고기)를 한 표현에 다 담은 것이나, ‘夜靜’ - ‘月明’처럼 어두움과 밝음의 두 대조적인 의미를 한 작품 안에서 표현 내용에 맞게 적절하게 교차시켜 사용하는 기법은 표현을 새롭게 하는 효과를 거둔다. 이러한 기법은 作意 形象化 기법의 좋은 사례라고 말할 수 있다.
이 고찰의 결론은, 두 작품 사이에 직접적인 영향 관계가 있을 것이라고 짐작을 할 수 있을 만큼, 시조는 선시의 글감과 표현 및 形象化 技法이 흡사하여 用事法의 奪胎技法으로 지은 작품이라고 말할 수 있다는 것이다.

영어초록

The main objective of this study is to compare a sijo(時調) known as a work of Wolsandaegun(月山大君)(1454-1488) and a Zen poetry in Keumganggyeong-ogahae(金剛經五家解). Though, It is assumed that these two works affect each other in accordance with the similarities of ideas and contents, there remains not enough data to verify and conclude the affection.
In order to examine these two, I applied three analyzing methods equally. The first method was syntax analysis. Tuning the elements with the flows of writing, it was observed how the changing aspects of writing interact with. The second method was structural analysis; observing how sentences or an elements of the works affect other elements and develop into as for the function and method. The third method was analysis of meaning structure and formation method. Formation is a technique creating active imaginations in order to weave writer's intentions and to have the work organic coherence.
Despite the difference of writers' intention between these two works, 'fishing' and ' empty boat' are the key elements to form the writers' intentions. This study has a accurate grasp of the function and meaning of the writing elements in a sentence structure focusing on the two preceding elements. The differences of writers' intentions make these two works have divergence in a way of understanding the similar expressions and elements even if there are structural similarities. The intention of sijo is absence of desire and homecoming mood from the previous worldly life in one's later year or leaving one's position. However, the writer of the Zen poem intend to save mankind and to have infinite enlightenment.
As for a result the distinguishing features of these two works are shown below.
The sentence structural and skills of weaving words of sijo is more complicated and outstanding than the one of Zen poetry. that means, in the first half of the lines, sijo lies reflected superficial ideas such as (cold - fish doesn't bite - empty ship) that makes reader presume the connotational meanings of the writer. however, the last half of lines embody some clue elements such as fishing, absence of desires, autumn but highly metaphorized clues hide the true meanings. We could say this style of writing shows the effect of well-organized structure and the beauty of poetic expression.
Zen poetry shows more diverse ways of expressions and materials. As we see in the line such as ‘night(be silent)’ - ‘water(be cold)’ - ‘fish(not don't bite )’, perpendicular relations(empty sky - water surface - underwater) and the concept of space(night - night water - fish in the water) are co-existed in a word. In the other cases, that the contradictive image such as light and dark are appropriately overlapped in accordance with the contents has a refreshing effect on the adequate articulation. This technique is the good example of formating the writer's intention.
In conclusion, Still not having found enough data, It is not easy for us to assume that The sijo was directly influenced by the Zen poetry in a way of formating the imagery, materials of writing and expressions, and was made in a way of adaptation.
