『金石集帖』 수록 불교자료의 역사적 의의 (The Historical Significance of Buddhist Data in the Geumseok Jipcheop)

초록

『金石集帖』은 金在魯 등에 의해 19세기초 무렵에 완성한 금석문 집성 자료로서, 碑의 全面을 수록한 가장 이른 자료집이다. 『金石集帖』은 비면 전체를 수록하여 서예적 특성은 물론 비문 내용을 알려주는 자료적 의의도 매우 크다. 『金石集帖』은 모두 226책으로 편찬하였는데, 京都大學에 219책이 현존하고 있다. 『金石集帖』에는 34종의 분류 항목 중에서 釋寺라는 항목으로 불교 관련 자료를 수록하였다. 목록인 『金石錄』에는 11책의 釋寺 항목에 수록된 98종과 釋寺 항목 외의 3종을 포함하여 모두 101종의 불교관련 자료를 수록하였는데, 이중 京都大學 소장 『金石集帖』에 현재 남아 전하는 것은 釋寺 9책의 85종과 그밖의 3종 등 모두 88종이다. 목록 『金石錄』에 수록된 불교자료는 신라 5종, 고려 27종, 조선 69종, 총 101종이며, 京都大學 소장 『金石集帖』에 현존하는 불교자료는 신라 2종, 고려 18종, 조선 68종, 총 88종이다. 이중 眞空大師碑 등 3종은 『金石錄』에는 존재하나 실물은 없으며, 眞鑑禪師碑 등 4종은 목판 탁본이다. 『金石集帖』에 수록된 신라 고려의 불교자료의 종류는 『金石淸玩』이나 『大東金石書』와 같은 다른 금석집보다 적지만, 조선시대 불교 자료는 『金石集帖』 수록 자료가 월등하게 많다. 『金石集帖』에는 새로운 비문인 용연사 松坡大師碑 등 조선시대 僧碑와 事蹟碑 10종의 신자료가 수록되었고, 비문의 내용은 알려졌지만 탁본이 처음 알려진 자료는 보현사 玩虛大師石鍾銘 등 11종이 있다. 『金石集帖』 수록 자료는 편집과 구성에서 대체로 원형을 가장 가깝게 보여주는 자료로서 그 의미가 크다. 『金石集帖』 수록 불교 자료는 새로운 내용과 탁본을 전해주는 자료가 20여 종이나 되어 그 자료 제공의 의의가 크고, 특히 원형에 가깝게 편집함으로써 비의 원모습을 충실히 보여주는 양질의 탁본 자료라는 점에서 그 역사적 의의를 높이 평가할 수 있다.

영어초록

Geumseok Jipcheop is the earliest collection of data containing the full aspect of the stelae among the collecting Korean stele insciptions. It contains full data of stone rubbing stela insciptions datas. Geumseok Jipcheop is consisted of more than 1800 stelae stone rubbings in 226 volumes, and now 219 volumes are preserved at Kyoto University.
Geumseok Jipcheop contains Buddhist stelae as the item of ‘temples’ among 34 items. A total of 101 Buddhist stelae were included in Geumseokrok, which assumed the list of Geumseok Jipcheop, of which 88 remain. It contains 3 stelae which are not included in ‘temples’ item. The Buddhist stelae included Geumseokrok are 5 stelae of Silla, 28 of Goryeo, 68 of Joseon, so 101 in total. The existing Buddhist stelae are 2 of Silla, 18 of Goryeo, 68 of Joseon, so 88 in total. Three stelae are exist on the list but are not real. The four stelae are woodblock prints, not stelae.
Although Silla and Goryeo datas included in Geumseok Jipcheop are not sufficient compared to other stela collections such as Geumseokcheongwan and Daedong Geumseokseo. Geumseok Cheongwan contained 59 Buddhist materials, including 9 Silla, 37 Goryeo, 13 Joseon, and Daedong Geumseokseo a total of 95 Buddhist steles, including 11 Silla, 69 Goryeo, and 15 Joseon. The fact that Buddhist stelae contained in Geumseok Jipcheop were small before Goryeo dynasty is the result of a relatively focused collection of Joseon dynasty data. In the case of Buddhist stelae in Joseon dynasty, there are far more materials in Geumseok Jipcheop.
Geumseok Jipcheop contains 10 Buddhist stelae of Joseon dynasty, including the Buddhist stelae to the Songpadaesa stela of Yongyeonsa temple, whose existence is not yet known. Although the contents of the inscription are known, the first data to be known are 11 Buddhist stelae of Joseon dynasty, including the Wanheodaesa Seokjongmyeong of Bohyeonsa temple. Those stelae are situated at quiet local areas such as Bohyeonsa temple in Myohyangsan mountain.
As a result of comparing stelae, Geumseok Jipcheop is generally meaningful as the closest data to its original form. This indicates the intention of those who edited and produced Geumseok Jipcheop to realize the importance of the data and to produce the original data in the original form as much as possible. The meaning of the Buddhist stelae in Geumseok Jipcheop should be highly appreciated in that they are high-quality stone rubbing datas that faithfully show the original appearance of stelae by editing them in an original data.
