초록

본고는 이승우의 <생의 이면>을 대상으로 분석심리학의 관점을 적용하여, 주인공이 유년의 상처를 극복하고 자기실현하기까지의 면모를 개성화 과정으로 고찰하였다.
<생의 이면>는 겹이야기 구조이다. 겉이야기의 서술자는 소설가 ‘나’이고, 속 이야기의 초점화자는 또 다른 소설가 박부길이다. 겉이야기 서술자 '나'는 박부길의 삶과 문학의 관계를 밝히기 위해, 박부길을 인터뷰한 내용 및 그의 작품 등을 참고하여 성장담을 재구성한다.
개성화의 개념은 <생의 이면>에서 주인공 성장기의 전환점마다 겪는 문제에 대해 타당하고 이유 있는 해석적 근거를 마련해 준다. 이 과정의 첫 관문은 그림자 인식이다. 다음 단계로 남성에게 내재한 여성혼 아니마를 만나게 된다. 아니마는 자아가 무의식의 중핵인 자기와 통합하도록 이끄는 매개로써 성숙한 인격으로 성장하는데 핵심 역할을 한다. 박부길이 사랑한 김종단은 아니마 원형으로, 박부길을 어둠의 세계에서 밝음의 세계로 이끌어준 구원의 여성상이다. 이에 박부길은 내면의 깊은데서 부정했던 아버지를 인정하고, 잠재된 창작의 능력을 발휘하여 작가로 거듭나, 불화했던 세상과도 화해하게 된다.
이로써 <생의 이면>은 박부길이 유년의 상처를 치유하고, 성숙한 인격으로 고유한 정체성을 찾게 된 개성화과정 이면에, 신성한 빛이 내장되었음을 넌지시 보여준다. 더불어 자기실현에 이르기까지 종교적 인간 구원의 진리를 구현하려는 작가의 글쓰기 전략도 알 수 있게 된다.

영어초록

This article, focused on Black Side of Life written by Lee, Seung-woo and applying the perspective of Analytical Psychology, is to study and contemplate the whole aspects as individuation process for an individual to overcome his infancy's wounds, go through and endure not a few hardships and then achieve self-realization as a writer later in life.
The structure of Black Side of Life is that of the metadiegetic narrative depicting a secondary narrative(intradiegetic) embedded within the primary, conscious narrative(extradiegetic). The extradiegetic narrator here is narrating 'I', a novelist and the focualizor of intradiegetic narrative is Bak, Bu-gil, another novelist. To find out and reveal their correlations of Bak's life and literature world, the narrating 'I' reorganized his growth story through the contemplated and reflected process based on interviewed dialogues and with reference to his known literature, etc.
The hero of Black Side of Life as a specific individual is showing Bak, Bu-gil's growth story, its perspective supports and builds up the interpretative rationale which can explain in depth growing process of universal human beings.
The first pass of this process starts from the shadow consciousness. In the next step, a man meets an anima, a female archetype, who helps make the conscious ego in the unconscious and the self of a nucleus in the unconscious integrated totally and in harmony.
In the inside novel Kim, Jong-dan, loved by Bak, can be referred to as an anima archetype of internal personality. Kim functions an ministering woman who guides Bak, Bu-gil, situated in the darkness into the world of light.
After Bak who rejected his father in the unconscious understands and admits him, his psychic stability subsequently helps him to be born again as a writer and to effect a reconciliation with the outside world.
Thus, behind his individuation process it is shown that the sacred light is built-in indirectly and allusively by a way of implication. Furthermore the author's strategy though process of completing self-realization the truth of religious human salvation is revealed in the black side of it.
