전쟁문학, 전쟁과 문학의 메울 수 없는 틈새 - 『전선문학』에서 순수문학의 위상변화와 그 의미 - (The transvaluation of pure literature in the war literature during the Korean War - focus on the『Jeonseon munhak』-)

초록

한국전쟁기 문학인들은 종군작가라는 방식으로 전쟁에 참여하였고, 전쟁과 문학의 상관성을 고민하며 전쟁문학이라는 개념을 정립하고자 하였다. 이 글에서는 이 시기 대표적 잡지인 『전선문학』을 통해 전쟁문학이라는 개념 설정에 순수문학이 어떻게 활용되고 있는지를 살폈다. 『전선문학』을 비롯하여 한국전쟁기 전쟁문학을 다루는 그간의 논의는 주로 종군작가단과 그 기관지였던 『전선문학』이 어떻게 반공이데올로기를 내면화하고 이를 작품화했는지 또한 더 나아가 반공이데올로기를 재생산하였는지에 초점을 맞추어 왔다. 그러나 『전선문학』에 실린 비평이나 좌담회 기록 등은 실제로는 전쟁문학의 성립 과정이 몹시 복합적인 역학 관계 속에서 이루어졌으며 또한 상당히 분열적인 양상을 띠고 있었음을 보여준다. 애초에 문학인들이 종군이라는 방식을 통해 전쟁에 참가하고 전쟁문학 개념의 정립에 골몰했던 것은 전쟁이라는 상황 속에서 그들의 자리를 확보하기 위한 시도였다. 이들 종군작가들이 공산주의를 명백한 적으로 규정하며 전쟁문학의 개념과 가치를 정립해 나가는 과정에서 순수문학은 배격해야 할 대상으로 정의되었다. 그러나 전쟁이 장기화되면서 전선에서 종군작가들의 지위가 애매해짐에 따라 문단 내외의 헤게모니를 획득하기 위해 다시 순수문학의 개념이 요청되게 된다. 종군작가들은 애초에 배제했던 순수문학의 개념을 다시 끌어들이고 문단과 문학의 권위 회복에 골몰하였던 것이다. 이처럼 전쟁문학의 개념을 정립하는 과정에서 순수문학의 위상은 극단적인 변동을 겪었다. 그 결과 전쟁문학이라는 개념 속에는 전쟁, 문학, 문단, 진실, 순수 등의 다양한 가치가 혼재하게 되었고, 이는 서로 모순되거나 충돌되며 ‘전쟁문학’이라는 기치를 훼손하게 되었다. 전쟁과 문학의 메워질 수 없는 그 틈이야말로 종군작가들이 서 있던 지점이었으며, 그 반복적인 분열과 봉합의 궤적이 전쟁문학의 실제였던 것이다.

영어초록

But in the front, as the following the army writers position was ambiguous, the concept of the pure literature which it excluded in order to establish the war literature was again drawn and the following the army writers were absorbed in the restoration of authority of the paragraph and literature. In within the concept that it is the warfare literature, the various value including the war, literature, literary circles, truth, purity, and etc. was mixed and it was contradictory or this crashed and in conclusion, made the gap in the slogan that it is the magazine that it is the『Jeonseon munhak』and ‘war literature’ which furthermore they advocate. This cannot be filled gap of war and literature was the spot which the following the army writers stood.
