다문화대안학교 특성화 교과과정 분석 연구 - 인천한누리학교와 새날학교를 중심으로 - (An Analytic Study on the Specified Curriculum of Multicultural Alternative School - Focus on the Incheon Hannuri School and Saenal School -)

초록

한국의 다문화사회를 주도하는 결혼이주자 가족의 증가는 중도입국자녀를 포함하는 다문화가정 자녀의 증가를 동반하며, 이들로 인해 사회적 문제 발생에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 다문화가정 자녀의 학교 부적응 등의 문제를 해결하기 위하여 최근에는 일반학교 부적응 또는 진입 전 단계에 있는 학생들의 수용을 위하여 ‘인천한누리학교’와 같은 ‘기숙형 다문화 공립대안학교’가 설립되었다.
아직까지는 다문화대안학교의 수가 많지 않고, 그중 공립다문화대안학교는 그 수가 더욱 부족한 실정이며, 다문화대안학교의 교과과정은 상당 부분이 학교의 특성에 따라 다르다. 특히, 다문화 교과과정의 편성은 다문화대안학교의 교과과정에서 중점적인 위치를 차지하고 있으며, 학교 특성에 따른 다문화 교과과정의 분석은 다문화대안학교의 특성 파악과 대안학교의 대안교과과정 편성에 기준을 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다문화대안학교의 교과과정을 확인하고, 다문화대안학교들이 공통으로 채택할 수 있는 다문화 교과과정의 방향을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 인천한누리학교와 새날학교의 교과과정을 분석하였다.
인천한누리학교와 새날학교의 교과과정의 분석을 통하여 다음과 같이 대안교과과정의 개선 방향을 제시하였다. 첫째, 대안학교는 학생들의 상급학교 진입을 대비하여 학력 신장을 위해 노력해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 학교와 한국 사회적응을 위한 한국어교육을 강화할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 이중언어교육을 시행되어야 할 것이다. 넷째, 진로교육과 함께 다문화가정 학생들의 생활적응을 위한 심리상담을 병행할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This study analyzes the curriculum of public multicultural alternative school Incheon Hannuri School and private multicultural alternative school Saenal School in order to examine the alternative curricula of multicultural alternative schools.
The Incheon Hannuri School puts its efforts in complementing the basic curriculum including Korean education, and is also considerate of multicultural students' adaptation in school and society. On the other hand, the Saenal School only categorizes Korean and Taekwondo within the alternative curriculum. As a public multicultural alternative school, the foundation purpose of the Incheon Hannuri School is the adaptation of multicultural students within Korean schools, while the Saenal School is a private multicultural alternative school which focuses on students' adaptation to the Korean society as a whole. However, in spite of the difference between the two school's founding purpose, the Hannuri School considers students' adaptation to our society through native language education, counseling, and other means compared to the Saenal School, which only includes Korean and Taekwondo inside the alternative curriculum; there is a definite need for improvement in the proportion of class lesson.
On the basis of the analysis on the curriculum of Incheon Hannuri School and Saenal School, we propose the following improvements in alternative (specified) curricula.
First, multicultural alternative schools need to complement and educate basic subjects in order to prepare students for educational transition.
Second, Korean education has to be reinforced. Especially, immigrated students are in need of systematic Korean education for the sake of adaptation to the Korean school and society.
Third, bilingual education needs to be implemented through native language education. Native language education enables multicultural students to understand their mother's country and establish identity, and moreover, their bilingual capacity will be greatly necessary in a multicultural society.
Fourth, career education and psychology consultation needs to be carried out to prevent multicultural students' maladjustment at school and help them plan their future,
The purpose of multicultural alternative schools as a means of alternative education is to overcome the limitations of public schools within the multi-racial and multicultural society and foster global leaders. Through alternative education, equal education opportunities should be guaranteed to multicultural students in order for them to coexist with other Korean students and enable all students to grow as competent leaders of our society.
