비교민속학회 학술활동 성과와 민속학의 새 지평 확대 (Achievements of Academic Activities of the Asian Comparative Folklore Society and Expansion of a New Horizon for Folklore)

초록

비교민속학회 학술활동을 학술발표회와 학회지 간행, 외국 민속답사, 비교민속 연구 성과에 따라 차례로 밝히면서, 외국답사 중단과 학회지 발간 축소의 문제점을 지적했다. 구체적으로 비교민속연구의 이론적 성과는 발전 단계별로 정리했다. 전파론적 비교연구에서 동이론적 비교연구로 나아갔을 뿐 아니라, 사실판단 단계의 동이론에 만족하지 않고 원인판단 단계의 동이론으로 진전된 연구를 했다. 그 결과 엑스타시형 샤머니즘은 유목문화, 포제션형 굿은 농경문화의 생업양식에서 비롯된 유형이라는 사실을 밝혔다. 마지막 단계는 신비교주의에 입각해서 총체적 비교연구로 나아가 ‘농경/유목 문화 비교모형’을 수립함으로써 거시적 주제중심의 맥락적 비교연구에 이르렀다.
비교민속학의 새 지평 확대를 위한 방안으로 가) 학회의 정기적 학술발표회를 새로운 학설 중심으로 기획하여 컨퍼런스 형태로 할 것, 나) 외국답사와 비교연구의 효율성을 높이기 위해 전공별 소그룹 활동이 가능하도록 회원들을 조직할 것, 다) 비교연구 기반 조성을 위해 외국 민속지 번역작업을 할 것, 라) 비교민속 연구를 개척하기 위해 국제혼 가족들을 대상으로 민속조사를 할 것 등을 제안했다. 현단계 민속학 개척을 위해 인터넷문화와 디지털문명의 일상화에 따른 조사연구가 필요하다. 페이스북 민속과 함께 유튜브 민속, 스마트폰 민속으로 민속학의 영역을 현실 문화생활과 관련하여 확대해 나가야 한다. 현단계에서 더 나아가면 포스트휴먼 시대와 만나게 된다. 이 시기에는 필연적으로 사이보그와 안드로이드와 공생해야 한다. 따라서 포스트휴먼 시대의 미래 민속은 전자인간과 공생의 길을 연구하지 않을 수 없다. 그러므로 민속학은 현실문화와 미래문명과 함께 가는 학문으로 지평을 확대해야 한다.

영어초록

This study pointed out the problems with the suspension of foreign site visits and the reduction of journal publications while describing the academic activities of the Asian Comparative Folklore Society in the aspects of academic conferences and journal publications, foreign site visits, and achievements of comparative folklore studies. Specifically, the theoretical achievements of comparative folklore studies were organized by research development phase. The initial perspectives of comparative folklore research showed an advance from the theory of diffusionism to theory of the sameness and differenc, and for the theory of the sameness and difference, the basis for judgment proceeded from factual judgment to causal judgment. As a result, it was found that ecstatic shamanism originated from nomadic cultures, whereas possession-type gut (Korean shamanistic ritual) was associated with the lifestyles of agricultural cultures. As the final research phase, holistic comparative research based on new comparativism was advanced to macro-thematic, contextual comparative research, by establishing a ‘comparative model of agricultural and nomadic cultures.’ To expand a new horizon for comparative folklore, this study suggested that a) regular academic presentations from the Society should be based on new theories and organized in the form of conferences; b) the Society should organize small groups of members by specialty to enhance the efficiency of foreign visits and comparative research; c) foreign folklore materials should be translated into Korean to lay a foundation for comparative research; and d) folklore surveys should be conducted on interracial families to pioneer comparative folklore research.
To advance the current phase of folklore research, the routinization of Internet culture and digital civilization should be studied. The realms for folklore research need to be extended in relation to real cultural life involving Facebook, YouTube, and smartphone. The next phase of folklore research will meet a posthuman era. This era will require a symbiosis with cyborgs and androids; therefore, the future folklore in the posthuman era will be inevitably centered on living together with electronic persons. In that sense, folklore should expand its horizon as the discussions and research on real culture and future civilization.
