‘우리(Woori)’ 개념에 대한 목회상담학적 연구 (A Pastoral Counseling Study on the Concept of ‘Woori’)

초록

본 논문은 한국 기독교인의 ‘우리’ 개념을 사회문화, 가족치료, 여성주의 목회신학 관점에서 성찰하여 ‘융합적 우리’에서 ‘분화적 우리’로 계발시키는 목회상담과 목회적 돌봄을 제언하는 연구이다. 한국인의 ‘우리’ 개념은 다중적인 상황에서 다양한 의미로 사용된 개념으로, ‘나’를 중심으로 한 친밀한 관계를 표현한다. ‘우리’ 개념을 바탕으로 한 관계는 개인에게 정서적 안정감, 소속감 등을 주어 개별성, 창조성 등을 발휘하도록 돕는 지지자원이다. 한편 이 관계는 정서적으로 밀착되어 집단주의적 특성을 갖기도 한다. 이 경우 개인은 ‘우리’ 공동체에서 안정감을 느끼는 동시에 심리적 어려움을 겪기도 한다. 이는 ‘우리’ 개념의 양면성이다.
본 논문에서는 개인에게 심리적 어려움을 주는 ‘우리’ 개념을 ‘융합적 우리’라고 명한다. ‘우리’ 개념의 연구는 사회과학, 심리학, 신학적 관점에서의 성찰을 토대로 목회상담과 목회적 돌봄을 제언하는 바니 J. 밀러-맥리모어(Bonnie J. Miller-Mclemore)의 실천신학 방법론을 적용하였다. 심리적 관점에서의 분석은 가족치료 관점에서 진행하였고 문헌연구와 사례 연구를 통합하여 연구하였다. 연구의 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회문화적 관점에서 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념은 연합의 원동력인 동시에 공동체 유지를 위해 개인에게 희생과 배타적 관점을 갖게 한 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 가족치료 관점에서 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념은 머레이 보웬(Murray Bowen), 이반 보스조르메니-나지(Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy), 레이첼 T. 하레-무스틴(Rachel T. Hare-Mustin)의 관점에서 성찰하였다. 그 결과 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념은 개인에게 정서적 억압, 보이지 않는 충의, 일방적 돌봄 등의 관계적 특성을 요구하는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 여성주의 목회신학적 관점에서 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념은 소설 『82년생 김지영』의 주인공의 삶을 사례로 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념은 개인이 정서 융합, 자기희생의 관계를 형성하고, 심리적, 영적 소진 등의 원인으로 작용함을 알 수 있었다.
결론적으로 본 논문은 ‘우리’ 관계의 회복을 위하여 ‘융합적 우리’ 개념을 ‘분화적 우리’ 개념으로 계발하기 위한 목회상담과 목회적 돌봄을 제안하였다. ‘분화적 우리’ 개념은 정서적 분화를 이루어, 상호적 충의와 존중, 돌봄의 관계를 형성하게 하는 것을 의미한다. 이는 개인의 내면과 ‘우리’ 관계를 성찰하게 함으로써, 건강한 자기와 관계적 특성을 형성하도록 안내하는 데에 목회상담학적 의의가 있다. 또한 한국 교회가 ‘분화적 우리’ 개념의 지속, 강화를 위한 공동체적 돌봄의 자원으로써 목회적 돌봄을 할 수 있음을 제언하는 데에 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This study suggested a new methodology for pastoral counseling and care that cultivates ‘Differentiated Woori’ rather than ‘Fused Woori.’ This is done by investigating the Korean Christians’ concept of Woori from the perspective of socio-cultural reflection, family therapy, and feminist pastoral theology. The Korean term 'Woori’ has multiple meanings in multiple situations, expressing an intimate relationship centered on ‘me.’ A relationship based on the concept of Woori is a supportive resource that helps individuals to demonstrate their individuality and creativity by granting them emotional stability and a sense of belonging. On the other hand, this relationship has emotionally attached and collectivistic characteristics. In this case, the individual experiences a sense of security in the Woori community while simultaneously experiencing psychological difficulties. This is the duality of the concept of Woori.
In this study, the concept of Woori that causes psychological difficulties for individuals is called ‘Fused Woori.’ The study on Woori is based on Bonnie J. Miller-Mclemore's practical theology methodology, which proposes pastoral counseling and pastoral care based on reflection from the perspectives of social science, psychology, and theology. The analysis from the psychological point of view was conducted from the perspective of family therapy. In addition, the literature research and case studies were integrated and researched. The main findings of the study are as follows. First, from the sociocultural point of view, it is found that the concept of Fused Woori' serves as the driving force for unity while, at the same time, demanding individuals to sacrifice to maintain the community. Second, concerning family therapy, Fused Woori is reviewed from the perspectives of Murray Bowen, Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy, and Rachel T. Hare-Mustin. This analysis found that the concept of Fused Woori required relational characteristics such as emotional suppression, invisible loyalty, and one-sided care from individuals. Third, regarding feminist pastoral theology, the concept of Fused Woori was analyzed through the life of the main character in the novel 『Kim Ji-young, Born in 1982』. The result concluded that the concept of Fused Woori causes individuals to form emotional fusion and self-sacrifice relationships and suffer psychological and spiritual exhaustion.
In conclusion, this study proposes pastoral counseling and pastoral care to cultivate the concept of Fused Woori into Differentiated Woori to restore the Woori relationship. Differentiated Woori means to form a relationship of mutual loyalty, respect, and care. This helps pastoral counselors guide the formation of a healthy self and relational characteristics by investigating the inner side of the individual and the relationship with Woori. In addition, it suggests that the Korean church can provide pastoral care as a resource for community care to continue and strengthen the concept of Differentiated Woori.
