19세기 한․중 여성 시사(詩社)의 증답시 고찰 －삼호정 시사(三湖亭詩社)와 추홍음사(秋紅吟社)를 중심으로－ (Investigation on female poetry society conversation poems of Korea and China in the 19th Century －With Samhu-Pavilion Poetry Society and Qiuhongyin Poetry Society as the Center－)

초록

사람들 간에 정을 전달하기 위해 서로 물건을 주고받은 풍습은 오래되었다. 이러한 인간적인 교류 과정의 산물인 증답시에는 문학적 속성과 사회적 속성이 모두 담겨 있다. 그동안 증답시와 관련된 연구들은 한국뿐만 아니라 중국에서도 거의 남성문인의 증답시에 집중되어 왔었다. 이것은 여류 시인들의 증답시 창작 활동이 시대적 한계로 인해 활발하게 진행되지 않았기 때문이라고 추정된다. 그러나 19세기의 한·중 여성 한시 문학의 발달에 따라 여성 증답시가 눈에 띄게 증가하는 현상에 대해서는 학계의 더 많은 관심과 연구를 필요로 한다고 생각된다.
19세기 여성 시사의 형성과 발전은 한·중 양국 문단에 새로운 활력을 불어넣었고 여성 증답시와 마찬가지로 모두 여성문학의 외향성과 사회성을 보여주었다. 그래서 본고에서는 조선후기의 삼호정시사(三湖亭詩社)와 청나라 후기의 추홍음사(秋紅吟社)의 한시 작품을 통해 양국의 여성 증답시(贈答詩)의 모습이 어떠한지를 살펴보고자 하였다.
애틋한 분위기를 가득 품고 있는 이별의 정서, 멀리 떨어져 있는 가족이나 친구에 대한 그리움, 그리고 자신의 불행한 처지에 대한 비탄 등의 정서는 두 시사의 시인들의 작품에서 공통적으로 찾아볼 수 있다. 두 시사의 시인들은 모두 남편에게 적지 않는 시를 기증했지만 남편과 오랜 떨어져 지냄으로 인해 느끼는 외롭고 쓸쓸한 모습이 주로 나타난 삼호정시사 시인들의 작품과는 달리 추홍음사 시인들의 작품은 따스하고 평온한 결혼 생활을 묘사하는 경우가 많았다. 또한 추홍음사 시인들이 일상의 한가로움을 기록하면서 친구들과 나누는 증답시는 삼호정 시사 시인들의 시집에서는 찾아보기 힘든 유형이었다. 이처럼 두 시사 시인들의 증답시에서 보여준 다른 정서와 생활태도는 가정 형편 및 여성 창작에 대한 사회적 인식과 무관하지 않다. 봉건 예교의 이데올로기는 기혼여성들에게 폐쇄적인 생활공간에서 벗어나는 것을 허락하지 않았으며, 여성들의 삶과 감정은 자신이 아니라 가족과 남편에 따라 움직여지는 경우가 많았다. 그러나 청나라는 조선보다 여성의 문학 활동에 대해 비교적 큰 포용성을 갖고 있었는데, 이러한 환경은 청나라의 여류시인들이 규원이라는 감정에서 벗어나 좀 더 다양한 창작 주제를 탐구할 수 있었던 요인이 되었다.
본 연구는 한·중 여성 한시 작품을 연구하는 한 방편으로 여성 시인의 증답시를 고찰하였다. 여성 증답시의 출현과 존재는 여성 문학이 밖으로 전해지는 중요한 상징이라고 할 수 있다. 두 시사의 증답 활동은 다양성과 외향성에서 다소 차이가 있었지만 각각 한국과 중국에서 여성문학이 발전하는 과정을 보여주었다. 이후 증답시를 포함된 한국과 중국 여성시가에 대한 전면적인 연구가 계속되기를 기대해본다.

영어초록

The custom of conveying feelings between people by things has a long history. In this kind of interpersonal communication activities, the conversation poems have both literary and social attributes. Regardless of Korea or China, the study of the poem has been dominated by male scholars. This kind of circumstance also stems from the limitation on females involving in the activities due to the limits of the times. However, with the development of Korean and Chinese female Chinese poetry literature in the 19th century, conversation poems also increased, which required the academic circle to pay more attention to female conversation poems.
The formation and development of the female poetry society in the 19th century injected new vitality for the literary circles of the two countries, just like the female conversation poems, both of them showed the extroversion and sociality of female literature. So through the Chinese poems of Samhu-Pavilion Poetry Society in the later Joseon period and Qiuhongyin Poetry Society in the late Qing Dynasty, this paper aims to explore the female conversation poems of the two countries.
The theme of the two poetry societies can be divided into three types: the regret of parting, the pain of missing, and the exclamation of self-situation. Although the poets of the two poetry societies both gave the husbands a lot of poems, the loneliness of the poets of the Samhu-Pavilion Poetry Society caused by the long separation from their husbands and the warmth and fun of married life expressed by Qiuhongyin Poetry Society were in sharp contrast. Not only that, conversation poems that share daily leisure life with friends only appeared in the poems of Qiuhongyin Poetry Society. The different feelings and attitudes towards life expressed in the poems were closely related to their respective family conditions and the social attitudes towards women's creation at that time. Feudal ideology constructed a more closed living space for women. A woman's life and feelings did not change with herself, but with her family and her husband. However, compared with the late period of Joseon, the female poets in the later Qing Dynasty were more tolerant of women's literary activities, which enabled them to get rid of their feelings of boudoir repinings and explore more diverse creative themes.
This paper investigates the conversation poems of the female poetry societies as part of the study of female Chinese poems in Korea and China. The appearance and existence of female conversation poems are the symbol of the external communication of female literature. Although the activities of the two poetry societies are somewhat different in diversity and extroversion, they are both important stages of the development of female literature in the two countries. Look forward to a more comprehensive exploration of female poems of the two countries, including the conversation poems.
