기독교교육 요소를 적용한지역사회 청소년 진로지도의 실제: “천안삼거리 인문학교”를 중심으로 (Conducting A Process of Vocational Training Programs with Christian Educational Resources for Secondary Schoolers in Cheonan City)

초록

우리사회에서 신앙적 관점으로 진로를 탐색하고 필요한 준비를 하도록 돕는 노력이 부족하다는 판단에서 미래의 전공과 직업선택에 대한 고민이 많은 청소년을 대상으로 진로교육과정을 개발하였다. 먼저 학교, 가정, 교회교육현장의 진로교육 현황을 살펴보았는데 직업적 진로선택이 적성, 흥미, 성격검사 결과 외에도, 미래 수요변화에 대한 예측과 함께 개인의 자아정체감, 가정환경, 학업성취도, 건강상태를 고려하여 이루어져야 함에도 이러한 과정을 포함하고 있지 않다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 또한 진로와 직업선택을 하였다 하더라도 직업수행에 필요한 능력, 태도, 가치관을 개발할 수 있는 경험적 기회를 제공하지 못하고 있다는 사실도 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해 개인의 자기이해로부터 시작하여 직업수행에 필요한 능력과 자질을 습득할 수 있는 워크숍이 연속성을 가지고 이루어지고, 청소년 시기 신앙발달적 특성을 고려하여 소그룹 멘토링 관계 안에서 대화와 교류를 통한 성찰과 결단이 이루어지도록 구성방향을 잡았다. 다음 교육의 대상이 지역사회 기독인, 비기독인 청소년이라는 점에서 이들 모두에게 친숙한 인문학 작품과 주제들을 기독교세계관으로 재해석하여 교과내용으로 활용하였다.
구체적인 진로교육과정 개발에 앞서 교육과정의 주요 구성요소인 인문학, 멘토링, 워크숍이 갖는 교육적 가치는 무엇인지, 신앙교육에 활용할 때 나타날 수 있는 위험요소와 제한점은 무엇인지, 그리고 이러한 점들을 고려하여 어떻게 활용하여야 할지를 논의하였다. 이를 반영하여 청소년들이 자신과 환경, 미래에 대한 성찰적 조망의 기회를 갖도록 인문학 주제 강좌와 소그룹 분반토의를 배정하였고, 이 모든 과정에 기독교교육을 전공하는 대학생 멘토들이 청소년들의 역할모델이 되어 진로탐색을 돕도록 하였다. 다음 직업수행에 필요한 능력과 자질을 갖추어 나가도록 관련 분야 사업체를 방문하는 현장학습과 전문가가 진행하는 워크숍을 배치하였다.
개발한 진로교육과정을 가지고‘천안삼거리 인문학교’라는 이름으로 천안거주 차상위계층 가정의 학교부적응, 중도이탈 청소년들을 지도한 과정을 기술하였다. 먼저 1, 2학기 총 12회에 걸쳐 이루어진 주제 강좌와 이에 대한 소그룹 분반토의, 진로탐색 워크숍 및 현장답사와 관련하여 전체 구성내용과 전개과정을 소개하였다. 다음 진로지도과정에서 관찰한 내용을 제시하였는데, 특히 소그룹 방식의 진로교육에 대한 참여자들의 만족도가 높았다. 아울러 강좌 초반 참여자들이 보였던 불규칙한 참여율과 자신과 타인에 대한 공격성, 미래에 대한 소극적이고 무기력한 반응 등과 비교할 때, 운영진과 대학생 멘토들의 지속적인 관심과 보살핌으로 참여도가 높아지고, 자신을 솔직히 드러내며, 타인에 대해 수용적으로 대하고, 미래의 꿈을 구체화 하는 등의 변화가 나타났다. 마지막으로 취약한 환경에도 불구하고 청소년들이 미래를 꿈꾸고 준비해 나갈 수 있도록 지역사회의 학교, 복지기관, 행정부처와 교회의 협응적 지원을 당부하였다.

영어초록

This study is to propose a developmental process of vocational training curriculum based on the core values of Christian education with curriculum design elements such as humanities, mentorship, and workshops, and to describe the way this program for secondary schoolers in Cheonan city is conducted.
It is noticeable that a reductionistic perspective, which perceives career education as mere instrumental survey classes for selecting a group of college majors and future professions that correspond to the results of several vocational aptitude tests, has been generally accepted. Beside those test results, an individual learner's self-identity, family background, academic achievement, and health condition should be fully considered to set them the right direction in a life-long pathway. Also, a course of learning activities, which develops learners' attitude, enhances ethical decision making skills, and contains all of the subjects requisite for professional expertise, should be aimed for.
The researcher proposed developmental process of vocational training curriculum, in which humanities courses and work-study programs are performed in small groups, with an intention to motivate learners' reflective thinking and to accelerate learning growth in depth. With a distinctive educational goal of cultivating Christian vocation, the literature, historical stories, and philosophical issues in relation to the humanities courses are pre-analysed on the basis of following a Christian worldview for the sake of stimulating critical reasoning in three aspects: recognizing the purpose of life, accepting life's challenges and exploring the meaning of vocation. Furthermore, intimate conversation and mentoring relationships are facilitated in small groups, reflecting the substantial feature that teenagers grow in their faith through observing, imitating and identifying themselves with role models in cohort groups.
Then, the researcher described the whole conducting process of the vocational training curriculum for secondary schoolers struggling with low self-esteem, poor academic achievement and negative surroundings, who had been supported by Haenurim Center, a Cheonan-based social-welfare institution. The twelve sessions of this vocational training program were conducted biweekly on Saturday from September 2013 to August 2014. The humanities courses, on-site surveys, and work-study programs proceeded favorably in cooperative relations of the management support team, career education practitioners, and the volunteer staff, who majored in Christian education and have consistently visited Haenurim Center after the completion of the whole program.
The researcher observed positive progress in attendants' level of participation, interpersonal skills, and response to the inquiry of future preparation. It is a noteworthy fact that most of the participants expressed high satisfaction toward small group operation methods. Their reason was that it allowed them to present their opinion freely as well as conceptualize detailed contents easily. Finally, the researcher urged churches, social-welfare institutions, and public administrative departments to step up to support those who need caring and guidance for making right decisions in accordance with their own God-given life purpose.
