이 글은 <유씨삼대록>의 전고 활용의 특징과 그 기능을 살펴보고자 한 것이다. <유씨삼대록>은 다양한 전고를 서사에 배치하며, 특히 군신이나 치국과 관련된 전고를 활발히 끌어온다. 또 특정 인물을 부각하기 위해 집중적으로 전고를 활용하며, 전고가 동원되는 상황과 인용된 전고의 속성이 다를지라도 부분적 유사성을 활용해 전고를 동원한다. 마지막으로 새로운 사건을 만들고 장면을 구체화 하는데 전고를 활용한다. 이 같은 전고 활용은 작품의 핵심적 인물을 효과적으로 드러내게 하며, 인물들이 처한 상황을 보다 보편적이고 폭넓게 바라볼 수 있게 해준다. 또 새로운 사건을 만들어 내는 것과 작품의 진중한 분위기를 만드는데 일조하게 한다.
<유씨삼대록>의 작가는 삼대록계 국문장편소설에서 익숙하게 쓰이는 전고들을 활용하면서 동시에 자주 동원되지 않던 전고도 적극적으로 끌어온다. 공통된 전고를 통해서는 인물과 사건에 전형성을 주어 작품에 익숙함을, 새로운 전고들을 통해서는 작품에 신선함을 불어넣어 작품의 흥미를 진작시킨다. 이는 <유씨삼대록>의 작가가 전고의 활용이 미시적인 부분에서 서사의 결을 만드는 한 요소로 기능한다는 점을 인지했음을 확인하게 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research paper is to find out the use methods and functions of the authentic precedent shown in <Yussisamdaerok> The authentic precedent of <Yussisamdaerok> is characterized to use the following four respects: first, a great deal of authentic precedent is used to describe the lords and their vassals and the governance over a nation; second, authentic precedents are used intensively to reveal the quality and status of each character; third, precedents are provided as a basis for given situations utilizing some similar parts, regardless of what the contents and categories of precedents and narrations make difference; lastly, precedents are used to produce specifically scenes and events. The authentic precedent of <Yussisamdaerok> assumes the following function grounded on the characteristics as stated above. It serves main characters appearing in given literary works to be very properly shown, and makes readers view in a more broad way, the situations in which each character faces, and helps produce new events of long-length novels in the Korean letter using authentic precedents and create a true atmosphere out of the literary works.
The author of the book, <Yussisamdaerok> is aware that using an authentic precedent could become an element to complete a narration from a micro-perspective, and familiar characters and events often appearing long-length novels in the Korean letter are closely linked with narration by utilizing a great deal of typical authentic precedent, and that using precedents not often found in long-length novels of three generations in the Korean letter contributes to adding a more fresh and interesting factor to the literary works.
Judging this, it can be said that the authentic precedents appearing in <Yussisamdaerok> are formed and arranged through a keen endeavor of the author. It is expected that we will make a more profound understanding about the narration methods and styles of long-length novels in the Korean letter, if we make a more careful review of the difference in the use methods of the precedents formed and arranged in multiple long-length novels in the Korean letter.
