초록

1960년대 문학사를 들여다보기 위해서 사회적 배경으로 우리가 주목해야 할 것은 4.19 민주화 운동과 5.16, 그리고 이어진 군부 정권이다. 이런 60년대 사회적 배경을 안고 거론될 수 있는 여성 작가로 전병순이 있다. 운명 앞에서 혹은 사회 현실에서 인간다움이란 무엇인가를 줄곧 고민해 옴으로써, 30년대 이룬 리얼리즘의 발전선상에 있는 작가로 기존의 평가들은 정리된다. 그런데 발전선상에 있다고는 하지만, 전병순을 1930년대적 리얼리즘의 연장선에 놓는 것은 좀 더 고려할 점이 있지 않을까 한다. 따라서 본 논문은 60년대 문학 지형도에서 전병순을 바라보고 여성 작가로서 60년대 리얼리즘의 성가를 어떻게 꾸려냈는지 살펴보고자 한다.
60년대는 30‧50년대 연장선으로 볼 수 없는 문학사의 특수성을 부여받는다. 1960년대는 4. 19의 정신을 계승하는 비판정신과 박정희 정권이 지니고 있었던 체제 억압에 대한 반사 작용이 음양으로 문학에 반영되었던 시기이다. 이 지점에서 우리는 인간 본성과 삶의 본질이라는 틀을 만들면서 역사나 사회적 맥락을 짚어내고자 했던 작가와 만난다.
우선 그는 삶을 만들어가는 과정이야말로 곧 삶의 본질임을 표명한다. 아울러 운명이라는 말을 가장 불편해 했던 그도 인생이란 운명에 순응할 수밖에 없는 무엇, 불가사의한 세계가 있음을 인정한다. 부모와 자식의 관계에서 나타나는 인간 본성, 즉 내리 사랑과 책임의식에 집중하기도 한다. 60년대 박정희 정권의 핵심은 민족의 산업혁명화에 있었고, 정부의 계획된 강력한 경제체제와 결부된 근대화 프로젝트는 생활 윤리 및 방식에 급격한 변화를 초래한다. 이 지점을 예의 주시하고 전통과 근대의 충돌 속에서 이루어지는 새로운 관계 형성을 그는 놓치지 않는다. 아울러 윤리의식의 기준을 제시하고 나누는 삶이야말로 인간다움을 회복할 수 있는 길임을 전한다. 또한 60년대 반공주의를 통치의 수단으로 활용한 국가체제를 비판하고 일상에서 국민들을 어떻게 제한했는지 포착한다. 그리고 월남인들이 남한에서 어떻게 정체성을 구축해 나갔는지도 보여준다. 그를 60년대 작가군에 놓는 것은 바로 이런 점에서 가능하다.

영어초록

In order to examine the history of Korean literature in the 1960s, we should take a social notice of the 4.19 Democratic Movement, the 5.16 Incidence and the military government. When we think of it in the 1960s social background, a female writer Jun Byung-soon is an good example. She attempts to find true human nature in the face of her destiny or reality, so that she is said to be on the line of the development of realism shown in the 1930s. Though her works somewhat contain realism, it should be considered much further whether she extends the very realism in the 1930s. Through analyzing her works, based on the literary trend in the 1960s, this study is to find out how she proceeds to describe the reality of the days,The 1960s works have certain characteristics in the literary history, which means that the 1960s works are not the extension of the 30s – 50s works. In the 1960s, the 4.19’s critical spirit, along with the reaction against system repression, is reflected upon the literature positively or negatively. At this point we get to know her view of the world, by which she wants to dig up the historical and social contexts through the prism of human nature.
To begin with, the writer states that the process of making a life is the nature of life. She recognizes that life is the thing that we are forced to conform to, and that there is a mysterious world in our life. She also focuses on the nature of the human relationship between parents and their kids, that is, parental love towards youngsters as well as the sense of responsibility. She finds out that the extremely bad situation of war changed Korean sense of ethics, showing that the conflict of tradition and modern times gave birth to a new relationship. At the same time, she conveys the idea that their shared life is the way to recover a decent life, though the law of the jungle dominates our society. She recognizes the ethical shift and suggests its solution. In the 1960s, she faces the reality of her divided country with a critical view. Looking at the persons who don’t have their own life under the ideology, she criticizes the confrontation of South and North Koreas and the national systems. As a result, she realizes how the ideology limits the daily life of the people. Showing how she establishes her identity in South Korea as a person who came from North Korea, she gives her opinion on the division and grey area of Korea. Therefore, it is possible for her to be put among the realists in the 1960s.
