불멸 신화와 실낙원, “늙음 없는 젊음, 죽음 없는 삶”의 모티브 연구 (Immortal Myth and Paradise Lost, focused on "Youth Everlasting and Life Without Death")

초록

선과 악, 삶과 죽음의 갈등에 대한 민담은 입문 제의나 신화를 원형으로 하는 서사 구조를 따른다. “늙음 없는 젊음, 죽음 없는 삶” 역시 도입과 결말의 공식구, 젊은 주인공과 주술이 전이된 조력자 그리고 적대자와의 싸움과 같은 서사 단락의 다양한 특징들을 지키고 있다. 조건부 출생을 선택한 왕자 그리고 아버지의 옷과 말없이는 성공할 수 없는 여정은 민담의 전통성에 기반을 두고 과거와의 연결을 새롭게 하며, 신화의 힘을 빌려 역사 이전의 세계와 접촉할 수 있게 만들어준다. 또한 안정과 균형을 상징하는 숫자 3과 서사 전개의 삼회화 법칙은 동태의 합리적 전개와 구성을 담보할 뿐만 아니라, 존재의 삼위일체나 일생 의례처럼 삶과 죽음의 순간이 반복되는 상징에 대한 끊임없는 관심을 보여준다. 왕자의 여정에 등장하는 시련의 양상 그리고 운명과 불멸의 세계를 주관하는 우르시토아레처럼 숲 궁전의 여인들도 셋이다. “늙음 없는 젊음, 죽음 없는 삶”은 모티브와 공식구, 서사 단락의 힘을 빌려 가공의 현실 속에 완벽하게 흡수되는 철학의 깊이와 도덕적 계율의 근원을 마련해주고 있다. 담가 “어린 양”에서처럼 루마니아인은 죽음을 조화와 망각의 순수한 공간으로 들어가는 입구로 생각한다. 루마니아인에게 있어 영원한 삶은 결국 죽음이며, 피안의 세계 저 너머에 영원한 삶이 있다고 믿는다. 하지만 왕자는 반대 방향의 길을 선택하였고, 시간과 공간을 극복하려고 했던 그의 입문 의례는 신기루와 같이 사라졌다. 이 민담은 시간의 상대성, 즉 물리적 시간의 가역성과 비가역성 사이의 관계를 보여준다. 죽음에서 벗어나고자 하는 인간의 나약함은 불사의 욕망을 추구하는 여정으로 이어지고, 에피소드와 철학적 긴장을 통해 지상의 인간들이 추구하는 이상 그리고 삶과 죽음에 대한 개념을 깊게 각인시켜주고 있다.

영어초록

Folktales on the topic of the conflict between good and evil, life and death, follow a narrative structure based on initiation rite or myth. Youth Everlasting and Life Without Death (Tinereţe fără bătrâneţe şi viaţă fără de moarte) also preserves the various features of the narrative passage, such as the general introduction and ending phrase, the young protagonist and the helper to whom the magic was transferred, and the fight against the antagonist. The prince who chooses conditional birth and the journey that cannot be successful without his father’s clothes and helper horse, are based on the tradition of folktales, and based on these reasons, this folktale renews the connection with the past, and uses the power of myths to make contact with the world before history.
In addition, ‘the Law of Three’ symbolizing stability and balance and ‘the Law in Triplicate’ in narrative development not only guarantee the rational development and composition of episodes, but also create a constant interest in symbols that repeat the moments of life and death, like the ‘Trinity’ or ‘Rites of Passage’. The pattern of trials in the prince’s journey is completed in three stages, and there are three women in the forest palace, like ‘Ursitoare’ overseeing the world of human destiny.
Youth Everlasting and Life Without Death provides the depth of philosophy and moral code that are perfectly absorbed in the world of fables through the power of motives, official phrases and narrative paragraphs. As in Little Lamb (Mioriţa), the Romanians regard death as the entrance to a pure space of harmony and oblivion. Therefore, for Romanians, eternal life is ultimately death, and they believe that there is eternal life beyond the world of nirvana (state of enlightenment). However, the prince chose the opposite path, and his initiation ritual, which tried to overcome time and space, disappeared like a mirage.
This folktale shows the relationship between the relativity of time, that is, the reversibility and irreversibility of physical time. Human weakness to escape from death leads to a journey of pursuing immortal desires, and deeply imprints the ideals pursued by humans on earth and the concept of life and death through episodes and philosophical tensions.
