「풍장」에 나타난 삶과 죽음의 인식론적 전환 양상 (On Aspect epistemological change of Life and Death Found in Hwang Dong―Kyu's "Burial")

초록

이 논문의 목적은 황동규 시인의 『풍장』 연작시를 살펴보는데 있다.
황동규 시인의 『풍장』은 삶과 죽음의 세계, 혹은 삶과 죽음의 본질적 관계에 대한 탁월한 시적 탐구의 결과이다. 또한 『풍장』은 죽음이라는 소재를 일관되게 살펴보면서도, 황동규 시세계의 존재론적 의미망을 연속적으로 확보하고 있다는 점에서 집중적인 고찰을 필요로 한다.
황동규 시인은 『풍장』 연작 시편에서 죽음을 삶의 시간에서 분리된 이원화된 공간으로 간주하지 않는다. 시인에게 죽음의 의미는 시간의 단절이 아니라 지속이며, 삶의 분절이 아니라 궁극적으로 삶의 완성이고 이해이다. 하이데거 식으로 표현하면 『풍장』에서 시인은 “죽음에로의 선주(先走)”함으로써 오히려 더욱 풍요롭고 절실한 삶을 마주한다. 이처럼 황동규의 『풍장』에는 인식론적 전환을 통해 삶과 죽음의 관계를 유연하게 바라보는 시인의 모습이 분명하게 드러난다. 이에 따라 본고는 황동규 시인이 『풍장』에서 삶과 죽음의 인식론적 전환을 이루는 과정을 시집의 구성 양식에 따라 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 황동규 시에서 ‘풍장’의 시적 차용은 죽음을 삶의 계기로 수용하기 위한 황동규 시인 고도의 시적 전략이며 방법론적 장치였음을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 『풍장』은 황동규의 이전 세계와 뚜렷한 주제의식의 변모 양상을 보여주는 동시에 존재론적 의미 차원의 지속성을 확보하고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

영어초록

In his early poems, Hwang Dong Gyu's has broken out from the category of Korean traditional poems and started to arm with western intelligence. However, the poems he published from 80's reveal rather deep interests related to oriental thoughts. In particular, the series of 'Burial' which had been written for 14 years are steeply toward Taoism and thinking of Zen.
Hwang Dong Gyu's 'Burial' is the result of brilliant poetic research about the world of life and death or the essential relation between them. Furthermore, 'Burial' is worth of careful consideration in the way that it consistently looks into the material "death" and simultaneously secures ontological semantic network for the realm of Hwang Dong Gyu's poem. A poet, Hwang Dong Gyu, does not consider the life and death as dualistic spaces that separated from time. Ultimatley, the meaning of death is not a interruption of time but a completion and understanding of life. To qoute Heidegger, the poet faces more abundant and valuable life by "Death in advance" in 'Burial' 'Burial' is demonstrating the aspect of apparent thematic changes from Hwang Dong Gyu's previous realm and secures consistency of ontological semantic stage.
On this wise, the poet's relaxed vision that gazing into the relations between life and death is clearly exposed in Hwang Dong Gyu's 'Burial' Thus, this manuscript is looking into the process of Hwang Dong Gyu making epistemological change regarding life and death. Firstly, handling with the section one of 'Burial' series, the reflection of poetic narrator tends to harmonize with space of death is examined by bringing in hypothetical space. In the meantime, it is verified that the life and death is still remained as a symbolic space of binarity. In the section 2 of 'Burial', poet's awareness that life and death is not a separated relation is more actively emitted.
For the discussion of 'Burial' section 3, the process to reach faithful death through dissolution of life comes into view. Lastly, in 'Burial' section 4, a poetic narrator appears whom accepted death as an internal chance through "Death in advance" At this point, the narrator returns to space of life from death again after experiencing the epistemological switching process of life and death. This narrator is the one who recognizes ordinary life is filled with shadow of death and admit the beauty and value of life by that.
Like this, Hwang Dong Gyu's 'Burial' suggests us dialectical relations between life and death or process of enlightenment through poet's unique imagination.
