초록

Geumgangsan Yooramga is a kind of perfect-type travel gasa composed of departure→journey→destination→return trip looking around Gyeongju, the eight famous spots in eastern Korea, Mt. Geumgang and Seoul extensively for four months after Jang, Il-sang departed his hometown accompanied by his friend in June, 1930 on the lunar calendar, and he authored this work after he returned from this long journey. Its author unpacked after arriving at Onjeong-ri, and from the following day, he did sightseeing of Mt. Geumgang for 9 days.
Geumgangsan Yooramga can be subdivided into 24 paragraphs, in which he dealt with the contents of Woegeumgang with more weight than those of Naegeumgang or Haegeumgang. It's poetic rhythm features 4 ․ 4 syllable cadence with highly leisurely rhythm. This gasa uplifts its literary value to the maximum by making up for its monotony through the repetition of the same syllable, etc. and by enhancing the effect of expression through the use of a variety of rhetoric, etc.
The author is a descendant of the prestigious classical scholar family in Yeongnam district. Thus, it is judged that he might cherish the things he got with incomparable preciousness when he had to live in modern times and the Japanese ruling era, and he might go through the process of careful selection while being in contact with the changed society and culture in the changed world. His admiration for spots of scenic beauty of Mt. Geumgang and affection for fairy tales among the contents in his work can be considered as reflecting the former while women tourists, modern cultures, and current state of affairs and social situation are considered as reflecting the latter.
Geumgangsan Yooramga is significant at the present period in that this work can be used as teaching materials in time of teaching a sentence-description method. In addition, it's possible to find the present meaning from this gasa seeing that it can be used as materials for creating works.
