가야산 기행가사의 작품 양상과 표현방식 (Existent Aspects and Figuration Methods of Gayasan Travel Lyrics Works)

초록

본고의 목적은 영남지역 기행가사 중 ‘가야산’ 체험을 다룬 작품의 존재 양상을 정리하고, 여행체험의 표현 방식을 살피는 데 있다. 이를 통해 지역문화공간으로서 가야산 체험의 의미를 더욱 부각시키고, 작품의 기행문학적 특성을 밝히고자 한다.
가야산 기행가사의 텍스트 현황을 정리해 보면, <인사유람>, <가야희인곡>계열, <계묘년여행기>계열 등 크게 세 작품으로 나눌 수 있다. <인사유람>는 창작시기와 작자를 알 수 있는 작품으로서, 해인사를 포함한 가야산 전체 여정이 상세히 드러나 있으며 견문과 감상이 풍부한 것이 특징이다. <가야희인곡>계열 작품은 작자와 창작시기 모두 미상이지만 표기 형태를 통해 <인사유람>와 <계묘년여행기>의 중간에 창작된 작품임을 추정할 수 있다. 그리고 <가야희인곡>,<가야해인곡>,<가야산해인가>등은 가야산 기행가사에 대한 필사가 왕성하게 이루어진 정황을 확인할 수 있는 작품이다.
한편 <인사유람>와 <가야희인곡>은 경남지역 여성들의 규방가사 창작의 예를 확인할 수 있다는 점에서도 의미를 지닌다. 그리고 <가야희인곡>이 거주지 중심의 유산(遊山)의 체험을 다룬 작품이라면 <인사유람>는 명승지 중심으로 여행의 범위가 확장되었음을 보여주는 작품이다. 이는 여행의 형태와 경험의 변화를 추측하게 한다는 점에서 의미가 있다.
한편 <계묘년여행기>는 기행가사의 현재적 전승을 확인할 수 있는 자료이다. 여행이 개별적 체험중심에서 단체 관광중심으로 변화된 양상을 보여주며, 명승지 중심의 놀이적 성격이 강화되고 여정 중심의 빠른 전개를 보인다는 특징을 가지고 있다.
이상의 가야산 기행가사의 작품현황과 여행양상을 살필 때, 이들 작품은 1930년대부터 현재까지 변화된 여행형태와 체험을 담고 있다는 점, 기행가사의 필사 관행을 엿볼 수 있다는 점, 가야산에 대한 다양한 기행체험을 다루고 있다는 점에서 그 존재 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.
한편 가야산 기행가사의 여행체험의 표현 방식을 살펴보면, 장소를 표상하는 건물을 나열하고 그와 연관된 역사적 인물의 상징적 이미지를 끌어내는 방식, 대표적 자연경관에 대해 다양한 이미지를 동원하여 감각적으로 묘사하는 방식, 문화경관에 대한 관심을 부각시켜 그를 통해 문화적 욕구를 드러내는 방식 등이 사용되고 있다. 이를 통해 가야산을 상징적, 감각적, 정감적 이해의 대상으로 다양하게 표현하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
이상의 논의를 통해 본 작업은 가야산의 문화적 의미, 영남지역 기행가사의 일면, 그리고 근대적 여행체험의 양상 등에 대한 논의에 기여할 수 있을 것이라 본다.

영어초록

This paper is intended to organize existing aspects of literary works which cover Gayasan experiences among Yeongnam Area travel lyrics, and to examine literary figuration methods of travel experiences.
To summarize texts of Gayasan travel lyrics, the texts can be greatly divided into three: <Hoeinsa Yuramga(인사유람)>, <Gaya Huiinrok>series; <Gyemyonyeon Travelogue>series, etc. <Hoeinsa Yuramga(인사유람)> is a literary work whose date of writing and author can be known, which concretely shows itineraries of the total Gayasan including Haeinsa and which is characterized by plenty of knowledge and appreciative impression. Literary works of <Gaya Hoeinrok>series are the ones all of whose date of writing and authors are not known but, through types of mentioned characters, can be estimated to have been written in the middle term between <Hoeinsa Yuramga(인사유람)> and <Gyemyonyeon Travelogue>. In addition, <Gaya Hhuiinrok>,<Gaya Haeinrok>,<Gaya Haeinga>, etc. are the works that allow us to ascertain the situation under which travel lyrics are copied actively.
Meantime, <Hoeinsa Yuramga(인사유람)> and <Gaya Huiinrok> have significance in that they allow confirmation of examples of Gyeongnam area women's writing Gyubang lyrics. And, if <Gaya Huiinrok> is a literary work which covers experiences of staying in the mountain based on residence place, <Hoeinsa Yuramga(인사유람)> is the one which shows the scope of travel was expanded centering around famous places, which is significant in that this allows us to estimate types of travel and changed experiences.
Meantime, <Gyemyonyeon Travelogue> is a material enabling confirmation of contemporary transmission of travel lyrics. This is characterized by the fact that travel changed from individual experience-based to group-based sightseeing, travel for amusement based on famous places increased and itinerary-based speedy travel was popular. In <Gyemyonyeon Travelogue>, each side(각편) of <Umimga>, etc. was also written. Through this, it is possible to confirm contemporary situation of joint writing and copy of travel lyrics.
When present situations and travel aspects in respect to Gayasan travel lyrics are examined, those works are deemed to have significance in that they include changed travel types and experiences, practices of coping travel lyrics can be looked into and they cover various travel experiences in Gayasan from 1930s to the present.
In addition to that, to examine figuration methods of travel experience of Gayasan travel lyrics, the works use a method of enumerating buildings which represent a place and of deriving symbolic historic figures related to that; a method of gathering lots of images of typical natural sceneries and sensory depicts them; and a method of increasing interest in cultural sceneries and, through that, of revealing cultural desires, etc. Through this, it can be known that Gayasan diversely is expressed as the subject for symbolic, sensory and emotional understanding.
The above discussions are considered to contribute to the discussion about cultural meanings of Gayasan, aspects of Yeongnam area travel lyrics, aspects of moden travel experiences, etc.
