신라 금석문의 역일기록과 삭현망회 4주 월력 시간관 (The Calendar Records of Silla's Epigraphic Inscriptions and the 4-week Monthly Calendarof Sakhyeon-manghoe)

초록

이 글은 『삼국사기』 시간기록 분석의 연장선에서 신라 금석문의 역일기록 특성을 살피고, 그 과정에서 주목된 ‘삭현망회 4주 월력 시간관’을 도출한 연구이다. 역일기록이 담긴 금석문을 81종으로 선별한 뒤,(연월일 60종, 연월 11종, 연도 10종) 이를 대상으로 역일기록을 추출하면 형태상 연월일 85건과 연월 73건의 총 158건 자료로 집계된다. 연월일 자료에 대한 시기별 분포를 살피면 6C 15건, 7C 14건, 8C 17건, 9C 34건, 10C 5건으로 신라말 9C에 크게 확대된 면모이고, 이를 해당시기 역법으로 재차 살피면 선명력 사용(11건)이 가장 많아 주목된다. 다음으로 금석문에는 특정 날짜가 자주 보여 이를 모아보면, 보름날 기록이 19건으로 매우 높고, 그외 초하루 5건, 그믐날 5건, 초파일 6건이며, 특이하게 하현일도 2건으로 나온다. 이는 비문 관련 날짜가 일정한 간격을 지닌 음력 1일, 8일, 15일, 22일, 30일의 5일을 주목한 면모이고 이 날짜들이 팔관재일 관련의 불교 재일이라는 점에서 종교적 휴일의 성격으로 해석된다. 따라서 이를 갖고 당시 신라인들의 월력 시간관을 추론 모색해보면, 중국력에 의한 4주 주기(7･7･8･8)의 삭현망 월력과 범력(인도력)에 의한 4주 주기(8･7･8･7)의 현망회 월력이라는 두 종류 시간관이 도출되며, 둘다 4주 주기로 순환하는 월력 체계이되 초하루를 중시하는 중국적 월력과 그믐날을 중시하는 범력이 혼재된 양태로 분석되었다. 이 신라의 규칙적 월력 시간관이 이후 고려의 휴일 제도에 기초가 되었고, 또 조선말기까지도 흔적을 남기고 있음을 엿볼 수가 있다.

영어초록

This article is a study that examines the characteristics of calendar records in Silla's epigraphic inscriptions as an extension of the analysis of time records in the Samguk-Sagi and derives the 'Sakhyeon-manghoe 4-week monthly calendar time view' that was noted in the process. After selecting 81 types of epigraphic inscriptions containing calendar records, when calendar records are extracted from these, a total of 158 data are tallied, with 85 cases of day and 73 cases of month. The distribution of the day data by period shows a greatly expanded aspect in the late Silla 9th century. When examining this again as a calendar from the corresponding period, the use of the Seonyeong calendar is the most notable.
Next, when we collect the records of specific dates that frequently appear in epigraphs, there are 19 records of the full moon, followed by 5 records of the first day, 5 records of the last day, 6 records of the eighth day, and, uniquely, 2 records of the halfmoon day of the month. This shows that the dates related to the epigraphs are focused on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 30th days of the lunar calendar, which are at regular intervals, and since these dates are Buddhist Palgwanjaeil, they are interpreted as having the nature of religious holidays. Therefore, if we try to infer the time-based lunar calendar of the Silla people, two types of time-based systems can be derived: the Sakhyeonmang lunar calendar with a 4-week cycle (7･7･8･8) according to the Chinese calendar, and the Hyeonmanghoe lunar calendar with a 4-week cycle (8･7･8･7) according to the Beomryeok (Indian calendar). Both are lunar calendar systems that circulate in 4-week cycles, but they were analyzed to be a mixed aspect of the Chinese lunar calendar that emphasizes the first day and the Beomryeok that emphasizes the last day of the month. This regular lunar calendar system of Silla later became the basis for the holiday system of Goryeo, and we can see traces of it even in the late Joseon Dynasty.
