초록

이 연구는 7차 교육과정 근현대사 교과서 이래 1920년대 여성운동에 관한 교과서 서술 변화를 검토했다. 1920년대 여성운동에 대한 교과서 서술은 민족운동으로 환원되지 않는 근대 사회운동으로서 여성운동의 주체성을 보여주는 방식으로 수정되어 왔다. 여성운동을 민족운동과 다른 근대 사회운동으로의 개념화는 7차 교육과정 근현대사 교과서 단계부터 시작되었다. 또한 단원 구성에서도 여성운동을 민족운동과 구분하려는 시도가 있었다. 이후 2009 개정 교과서 단계에서는 교과서 7종 모두 여성운동을 근대 사회운동으로 파악했다. 그리고 일부 교과서에서는 여성운동의 주체로 신여성이 제시되었다. 또한 여성운동과 민족운동을 병렬하는 단원 구성이 시도되었다. 마지막으로 2015 개정 교과서는 2009 개정 교과서의 수정 사항을 적극 반영했다. 신여성을 여성운동의 주체로 조망한 교과서가 대폭 확대되었고, 일부에서는 여성운동의 이념으로서 페미니즘이 교과서 서술에 등장했다. 또한 여성운동과 민족운동을 대등하게 병렬해 여성운동의 독자성을 보여주는 단원 구성이 보편화되었다. 그러나 여성운동과 민족운동의 상호 관계, 즉 여성운동의 성별적 성격과 민족적 성격을 보여줄 만한 구체적인 사례 제시는 미흡하다. 이 점은 식민지 여성운동의 복합적 성격이 다분한 근우회 서술에서도 확인된다. 따라서 앞으로 식민지 여성운동의 다양한 활동을 구체적으로 제시할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This study examined the changes in the descriptions of high school textbooks “Modern and Contemporary Korean History” and “Korean History” on the women's movement of the 1920s in the colony Korea since the 7th curriculum. The descriptions of the women's movement in the 1920s have been revised to demonstrate the subjectivity of the women's movement as a modern social movement that cannot be reduced to the national movement. The conceptualization of the women's movement as a modern social movement distinct from the national movement began with the 7th curriculum. Additionally, there were attempts to distinguish the women's movement from the national movement in the composition of the units. In the subsequent 2009 revised textbooks, all seven textbooks recognized the women's movement as a modern social movement. Moreover, some textbooks presented the "New Women” as the subjects of the women's movements. There were also attempts to compose units that parallel the women's movement with the national movement. Finally, the 2015 revised textbooks actively reflected the revisions of the 2009 textbooks. The number of textbooks that viewed the "New Women” as the subjects of the women's movement increased significantly, and although it was in two textbooks, feminism appeared as an ideology of the women's movement. Furthermore, the composition of units that equally paralleled the women's movement with the national movement, demonstrating the independence of the women's movement, became widespread. However, the presentation of concrete examples to show the interrelation between the women's movement and the national movement, that is, the gendered and national characteristics of the women's movement, is still insufficient. This point is also confirmed in the descriptions of Geunuhoe, which reflect the complex nature of the colonial women's movement. Therefore, it is necessary to develop methods to concretely show the various activities of the colonial women's movement in the future.
