백제 국가제사 연구의 동향 및 과제 (Trends and Challenges in the Study of the Baekje’s State Rituals)

초록

백제의 국가제사는 東明廟･國⺟廟 및 仇台廟 제사, 그리고 天地合祭와 天･五帝 제사 등이다. 동명묘 제사는 동명묘의 위치나 의례의 기본 성격 및 위상 변화의 원인 등이 중점적으로 논의되었다. 국모묘 제사는 관련 기록이 소략하여 큰 진전이 어려웠고, 구태묘 제사는 기본적인 사안에 관한 입장이 정리되지 못하였으나, 일정한 역사상을 파악하려는 시도가 이어졌다. 천지합제는 상대적으로 활발한 논의가 이루어진 결과, 중국 교사와의 유사성을 비롯한 제사의 실상이 어느 정도 밝혀졌다. 천･오제 제사는 중국 교사의 경향을 염두에 두고, 오제의 실체나 제사 시기 및 의미 등에 대하여 여러 견해가 제기되었다.
그간의 노력을 통하여 백제 국가제사의 실상에 어느 정도 다가가게 되었다. 다만 관련 연구가 한 걸음 더 나아가기 위해서는 기록에 근거한 접근, 왕권과 당면 현실의 연계적 검토, 사회･문화적 토대를 향한 관심, 주변 사례 및 발굴 성과 참조가 필요하다.

영어초록

Baekje’s state rituals include the rites of the Dongmyeong Shrine, the rites of the State Mother Shrine, the rites of the Gutae Shrine, the joint rites for the heaven and the earth, and the rites for the heaven and five emperors.
In the study of the rites of the Dongmyeong Shrine, the focus was on the location of the shrine, the basic nature of its ceremonies, and the causes of changes in its status. In the study of the rites of the State Mother Shrine, significant progress could not be made due to the scantiness of relatedrecords. In the study of the rites of the Gutae Shrine, a consensus on basic issues was not reached, but efforts were made to get a rough idea of what it was like at the time.
As a result of active discussions in the study of the joint rites for the heaven and the earth, the true nature of the rituals, including the similarity between the combined this rituals and Chinese heaven-worship rituals(郊祀), was somewhat clarified. In the study of the rites for the heaven and five emperors, various perspectives were presented on the nature of the five emperors, as well as the timing and significance of the rituals, with consideration of the trends in Chinese heaven-worship rituals.
Through the achievements of previous research, we have come closer to understanding the true nature of Baekje's state rituals. However, for furtheradvancement in related research, it is necessary to approach based on historical records, examine the interplay between royal authority and contemporary realities, maintain interest in societal and cultural foundations, and refer to com parative cases and excavation findings.
