감탄사와 부사의 경계에 대하여 (A Study on the Boundary between Interjections and Adverbs)

초록

이 연구는 국어사전의 표제어를 검토하여 감탄사와 부사의 품사적 특성을 명확히 하는 데 목적이 있다. 감탄사는 口語에서 많이 사용하는 단어이기 때문에 상황에 따라 의미가 다르게 적용되고, 형태도 다양하게 나타난다. 따라서 국어사전마다 감탄사의 개념 규정과 어휘화의 인정 여부도 차이가 나서 표제어가 다르게 나타난다.
본고에서는 선행 연구 검토를 토대로 감탄사를 어떤 기준으로 분류해야 하는지를 살피고, 감탄사와 부사의 通用語에는 어떠한 단어들이 있는지 분석하였다. 먼저, 감탄사의 의미가 ‘감각적’인지 ‘판단적’인지를 기준으로 하여 ‘감각 감탄사’와 ‘판단 감탄사’로 분류하였다. 감각적 감탄사는 다시 ‘반사적 감탄사’와 ‘의식적 감탄사’로 나누었고, 판단적 감탄사는 ‘명령적 감탄사’와 ‘호응적 감탄사’로 나누었다.
감탄사는 본래의 형태도 많지만, 다른 품사로 전용되어 쓰이는 형태가 적지 않다 보니 多品詞語로 올라 있는 표제어가 많았다. 본고에서는 『표준국어대사전』에 감탄사와 통용되는 표제어 145개 중 ‘부사’와 통용되는 감탄사 22개를 분석하였다. 국어사전에 감탄사와 부사의 통용어로 수록된 표제어 중에는 ‘구구, 꾸꾸, 어흥’처럼 상징부사로만 처리해야 하는 것과 ‘쯧, 쯧쯧, 힝힝’처럼 부사와 감탄사의 통용어로 처리해야 하는 것이 있었다. 또한 ‘앙, 얼싸둥둥, 카, 커’ 등과 같이 동음이의어로 다루는 것이 타당한 예도 있었다.
구어 말뭉치 분석을 통해 감탄사와 상징부사, 접속부사 또는 문장부사의 관계가 보다 명확히 규명되어야 한다고 본다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristic of part of speech of the interjection and adverb by analyzing the headword in the dictionary. Because interjections are largely used in spoken language, they are presented with various meanings and structures according to situations and contexts. Therefore, the headword is shown with diverse meanings in the dictionary because there are different views of the concept of interjections. In addition, several opinions concerning the lexis attribute to create the headword with different functions. In this study, based on the findings from the previous studies, we establish the criteria which can classify the interjections and analyze which words are used with interjections and adverbs.
First of all, the interjections are divided into 'sense interjection' and 'judgement interjection' by investigating the meaning of interjections. 'Sense' interjections are classified into 'reflective' interjection and 'conscience' interjection. Moreover, 'judgement' interjections are grouped into 'imperative' and 'responsive' interjections. Originally, as the structure of interjections varies and they are often used in different part of word class, we can see the headword with diverse meaning in the dictionary.
In this study, we analyze the interjections in the Standard Korean Dictionary and 22 interjections which have been used with adverb among the 145 headwords in current use. The words presented in the study are classified as words with various functions, since they acquire new meaning disappearing what they used to have. Thus, the main goal of this study is to investigate the headword of interjections on the basis of the theory of the morphology and semantics of words in a sentence. Furthermore, this study has worth examining the features spoken language has.
