한국고대사 연구의 회고와 과제 (Reflection and Future Guidance of a Study of Korean Ancient History)

초록

한국고대사 연구의 성과를 개관하면서 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대한 모색하고자 이 글을 작성하였다. 다만 한국의 해외교류사 부분의 연구 경향을 따로 발표하였기 때문에, 이 글은 외교사를 제외한 분류사의 영역에 따라 한국고대사의 연구 성과를 정리하였고, 소홀히 된 시기별 연구 경향에 대해서는 간략하게 개관하였다. 한국고대사의 연구 성과를 종합함으로써 당대의 사회가 발전해 간 모습을 발견한다면, 이는 자연 한국고대사의 이해 체계를 제시하면서 한국사 속에서 갖는 의의를 이끌어 내게 한다. 한반도나 만주 일대를 무대로 전개된 한국고대사는 팽창하는 중국민족과 대항하면서 통일 국가를 이루고 민족문화를 이루는 저력을 제시할 수 있다.
한국고대사 연구는 문헌 기록의 부족으로 인해 어려움을 겪고 있다. 고려시대에 편찬되어 당대 사람들의 기록이 아니라는 점에서 또는 우리사회가 민주화되는 과정에 등장하여 편향된 이념을 가진 민중사학의 관점에서, 『삼국사기』나 『삼국유사』의 자료적 가치는 부인되기에 이르렀다. 이렇듯 영세하게 남은 문헌 기록 자체를 불신함으로써 한국고대사 연구는 사료의 한계를 극복하려는 방법론을 모색해 왔다. 일찍부터 고고학이나 인류학․민속학․종교학 등 인접 학문의 이론을 도입하여 한국고대사의 구체적 양상을 설명하였다. 다만 섣불리 이론을 도입하기에 앞서 인접학문의 연구 성과를 충분히 검토하면서, 원 사료가 보여주는 역사적 사실의 정확한 모습을 먼저 부각해야 한다.

영어초록

The paper is written for the purpose of finding a guidance on future policy by taking a view of the product of a study of Korean ancient history. This paper arranged the outcome of the study of Korean ancient history according to areas of the history of classification except the history of diplomacy, just because the product tendency of the history of Korean foreign exchange had been announced separately. However, the paper took a brief report on the periodical study tendency which were studied carelessly. To find the developmental stages of the present society by synthesizing the study outcomes of a Korean ancient history, will naturally present an apprehension system of a study of Korean ancient history in meaningful way. The Korean ancient history which was evolved in the stage of the Korean peninsula and Manchuria areas had composed a unified nation and national culture despite the inflation of Chinese power.
The study of a Korean ancient history is having some difficulties on lacking of documentary records. The value of research materials such as SamKoogSaGi or SamKoogYuSa is facing negation from two perspectives: first, the reason of the compilation of documentaries which was done during Koryo period, was not recorded by the people from the right period, second, the reason of the propensity perspective of the study of populace which was appeared during democratization of the Korean society. Thus, by having discredit on a few remained documentary records, the study of a Korean ancient history has been searched methodology to overcome lack of the historical material. From early in the period, the specific aspects of the study of Korean ancient history was explained by adopting contiguous theories such as archeology, anthropology, folklore, and the study of religion, etc. However, before adopting the outcomes of contiguous theories, it is important to have realization on the truth of history from the original historical documents by careful consideration about outcomes of the study.
