고등학교 <세계사> 교과서의 중국현대사 관련 서술 분석(문화대혁명 관련 서술을 중심으로) (Analysis of the description of Contemporary Chinese History in the High School textbooks (Focusing on the Cultural Revolution))

초록

This research paper will analyze and review intensively the contemporary Chinese history dealt with in high school textbooks, <History of the World>, <History of East Asia>, particularly the descriptions associated with the Cultural Revolution. Contemporary Chinese history, which is the subject of review of this paper corresponds to the period of China from the 1950s until the early 1990s that was not very accessible to Korean people.
Like our national history, the world's history covers the histories of other countries, and given the impact that textbooks have, we need to fully examine the documents for the descriptions and historical presentations. Of course, due to political reasons, because the chinese government would not disclose the objective documents, it is true that we are having a lot of difficulties to describe the history. Nevertheless, we will have to provide a compilation of standards for the basis of objective facts and describe them based on the evidences.
This paper was started from awareness of the problem. And I will point out the problems identified after analyzing the descriptions related to the Cultural Revolution in high school textbooks. And I hope that this paper will help to modify the content of our textbooks later.
In order to perform research effectively, this paper will analyze the contents of the textbooks, <History of the World> and <History of East Asia> which are being used in high schools. In addition, I am trying to juxtapose our textbooks with those in China which describe the Cultural Revolution. Through this research, it is my hope that understanding the Cultural Revolution more accurately will lead us to firmly grasp the past and the present of the People's Republic of China.
