MMSS-ON을 활용한 초등 고학년 자기서사 진단 프로그램 개발 및 실행 연구 (Elementary School Senior Story-in-depth of Self Diagnosis Program using MMSS-ON Development and Implementation Research)

초록

본 연구는 신동흔이 개발한 온라인 자기서사 진단 도구인 MMSS-ON을 활용하여, 초등 고학년 아동의 자기서사 진단을 위한 프로그램을 개발하고 실행한 연구다. MMSS-ON이 자기서사를 진단하는 데 유용한 도구임을 입증하고 나아가 MMSS-ON을 활용한 문학치료 프로그램을 초등 교육 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 MMSS-ON을 활용하여 8회기에 해당하는 초등 고학년 아동 대상 자기서사 진단 프로그램을 개발하고, 서울 시내 2개 초등학교에서 실행하였다.
프로그램 개발에 있어서는 자발적 참여를 원칙으로 집단상담을 실시한다, 자기서사 진단 회기와 자기서사 탐색 회기로 나누어 프로그램을 구성한다, 이야기 탐색 과정이 자기서사의 성장 과정이 되도록 한다, 필요하다면 집단상담과 별도로 개인상담을 진행한다 등의 원칙을 세웠다. 자기서사 진단 회기는 6회기로 한 회기에 2~3개 이야기를 구연하고, 생각 나누기를 하고 진단지를 작성하는 순으로 구성하였다. 자기서사 탐색 회기는 2회기로 이야기 만들기와 책 만들기를 진행하였다. 이야기 탐색 과정이 자기서사의 성장 과정이 되도록 하기 위해서 열린 질문을 통해 생각 나누기를 하였다.
자기서사 진단 회기에 나타난 초등 고학년의 자기서사 특징은 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째는 현실적이고, 공격적이며, 욕심 많은 캐릭터에 대한 호감이다. 두 번째 특징은 주먹이처럼 집을 떠나는 캐릭터에 대한 부정 반응이다. 세 번째 특징은 참여자들의 성향에 따라 그래프의 모양이 달라진다는 것이다. 참여자들의 그래프를 보면 외향적이고 적극적인 참여자의 경우 좌우로 긴 모양의 그래프가 나타났고, 내향적이고 소극적인 참여자의 경우는 중앙에 밀집된 모양의 그래프가 나타났다.
자기서사 탐색 회기는 문학치료적 글쓰기 방법의 하나인 다시쓰기 과정이다. MMSS-ON 진단 결과 나온 자신의 캐릭터나 주변 인물을 주인공으로 이야기를 만든 참여자들은 이야기를 끝까지 완성할 수 있었다. 이는 그 캐릭터의 서사가 참여자의 내면에 있기 때문이라 할 수 있다. 반대로 마음에 드는 캐릭터를 주인공으로 하여 이야기를 만든 참여자들은 이야기를 결말까지 완성하지 못했다. 이는 그 캐릭터의 서사가 참여자의 내면에 없거나 제대로 자리 잡고 있지 못함을 의미한다.
연구 결과 MMSS-ON이 초등 고학년 아동의 자기서사 진단에 유용한 도구임과 더불어 이를 활용한 초등 고학년 자기서사 진단 프로그램의 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 프로그램 개발과 진행 과정, 진단 결과 집단의 특성을 다루었을 뿐 참여자 개인의 자기서사를 심도 있게 다루지는 못하였다. 이는 후속 논문을 통해 이어가고자 한다. 본 연구가 초등 고학년 대상 문학치료 프로그램 개발에 초석이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Using MMSS-ON, an online story-in-depth of self diagnosis tool developed by Shin Dong-Hun, this study developed and implemented a program for the diagnosis of story-in-depth of self in the upper grades of elementary school children. The purpose of this study is to prove that MMSS-ON is a useful tool for diagnosing story-in-depth of self and to lay the groundwork for the use of literary therapy programs using MMSS-ON in the field of elementary education. To this end, the researcher developed a story-in-depth of self diagnosis program for 8th grade elementary school children using MMSS-ON and implemented it in two elementary schools in downtown Seoul.
In the development of the program, group counseling is conducted in principle with voluntary participation, the program is organized into a story-in-depth of self diagnosis session and a story-in-depth of self search session, the story search process becomes the growth process of sstory-in-depth of self, and if necessary, personal counseling is conducted separately from group counseling. The story-in-depth of self diagnosis session was organized in the order of composing two to three stories in one session, sharing thoughts, and preparing a diagnosis sheet. The story-in-depth of self search session was held in the second session, with story making and book making. In order to make the story search process a growth process of story-in-depth of self, thoughts were shared through open questions.
The characteristics of story-in-depth of self in the story-in-depth of self diagnosis session of the upper grades of elementary school can be summarized into three categories. The first is a liking for realistic, aggressive, and greedy characters. The second characteristic is a negative reaction to a character who leaves home like a Jumukyi. The third characteristic is that the shape of the graph changes according to the tendencies of the participants. When looking at the graphs of the participants, in the case of extroverted and active participants, a long graph appeared in the left and right, and in the case of introverted and passive participants, a dense graph appeared in the center.
The story-in-depth of self search session is a rewriting process, one of the literary therapeutic writing methods. Participants who made the story based on their own characters or surrounding characters as the main characters from the MMSS-ON diagnosis were able to complete the story by the end. This is because the character's narrative is inside the participant. Conversely, the participants who made the story with their favorite characters as the main characters did not complete the story until the end. This means that the character's narrative is not within the participant or is not properly positioned.
It was found that MMSS-ON is a useful tool for diagnosing story-in-depth of self in the upper grades of elementary school through the development and execution of a story-in-depth of self diagnosis program using MMSS-ON. This study dealt with the characteristics of the program development, progress, and diagnosis result group, but did not deal with the individual participants' story-in-depth of self in depth. This will be continued through subsequent papers. It is expected that this study will be a cornerstone in the development of literary therapy programs for the upper grades of elementary school.
