초록

A pagoda that was made as the first Buddhism symbol reflects unique cultures of Eastern Asian countries. Therefore, China is often called ‘a country of brick stupa(塼塔)’, Japan is called ‘a country of wooden stupa(木塔)’, and Korea is called ‘a country of stone stupa. In particular, Japan inherited Buddhism from Baekje in the ancient Korea-Japanese relationship, and the fact of Buddhist architects’ dispatch is minutely recorded in 『Nihon-shoki』. In such a background, the comparison study of a pagoda is very interesting topic.
Temple Stupa that is well known as the oldest Japanese stone stupa has been known that it copied Jeonglimsaji stone stupa of Baekje and was built by Baekje people. The period somewhat differ depending on researchers, but Japanese academic world normally considers it as the middle and late 7th century. On the other hand, Korean academic world thinks that Baekje style stone stupa that is similar to temple stone stupa in terms of the pattern was not built due to collapse of Baekje but it was built again in Goryeo Dynasty. This study looked into Baekje style stone stupa and Japanese temple stone stupa with ‘Baekje pattern’ beyond the border by focusing on the building history.
