남북한 문학사 비교 연구-안함광의 『조선문학사』와 백철의 『신문학사조사』를 중심으로 (The Comparative study of the Literary History between North and South Korea)

초록

남북한 문학사는 미학적 원리와 기술체계가 다르게 나타나며, 그에 따른 차이와 이질성을 갖는다. 남한이 창조적 개인의 다양한 기술방법을 중시하고 언어예술의 심미적 측면을 중시한 작품 중심의 사적 서술이 주를 이룬다면, 북한은 국가건설의 혁명적 수행이라는 이념을 중시하는 사회주의 리얼리즘 문예이론에 입각한 문학사를 전개하였다. 남한의 문학사는 문예평론가가 지닌 개인적인 신념이나 기준에 의해 다양한 측면에서 서술되는 경향이 있으며, 북한의 문학사는 당의 교리나 정책에 따라 서술되는 측면에서 편협하고 단순하여 획일적이라고 할 수 있다.
안함광과 백철의 문학사는 각각 남북한의 문학사라는 점에서 서술방법론과 서술체계가 다르며, 때문에 서술되는 내용과 중요하게 다루어지는 작품, 평가되는 작가에 대한 견해도 상이하게 나타난다. 이들의 문학사를 비교·분석하여 살펴보는 과정을 통해 남북한 문학사의 흐름과 이질성을 재검토할 수 있으며, 앞으로 해결해야 할 과제인 통일된 문학사의 기술 문제에 보다 근접할 수 있는 계기를 마련할 수 있다.
안함광은 해방 전 문단에서 농민문학론과 리얼리즘론, 민족문학론을 수립하고 발전시킨 역할을 하였으며, 해방 후에도 북한에서 북한 문학사 정립의 기틀을 마련하고 활발한 평론 활동을 함으로써 문단을 주도한 학자이자 평론가로서 높이 평가되고 있다. 그러나 그에 대한 연구는 해방 이전의 활동에 집중되어 있으며, 주로 리얼리즘론이나 농민문학론과 창작방법론에 편중되어 있는 경향이 있으며, 대부분 단편적이고 부분적인 논의에 국한되어 있다. 북한 최초의 문학사인 안함광의 『조선문학사』에 대한 연구 또한 부분적으로 다루어졌을 뿐 본격적인 논의는 아직 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다.
백철은 안함광과 농민문학 문제에 대해 논쟁하며 결이 다른 농민문학론을 전개하였고, 프로문학론, 인간묘사론, 휴머니즘론, 신비평에 대한 논의를 개진하였다. 해방 후에는 좌우 어느 쪽에도 치우치지 않은 독립된 문학론을 전개하면서 사조사를 중심으로 한 문학사를 기술하였고, 이러한 그의 『신문학사조사』는 새로운 문학의 이념을 정립하고자 한 포괄의 문학사라는 평가를 받는다. 한국 현대문학의 초석을 다진 것으로 평가받는 백철의 『신문학사조사』에 대한 연구 또한 단 몇 편에 불과한 실정으로 연구의 필요성이 제기된다.
이에 본고에서는 남북한 문학사를 비교·고찰함에 있어 안함광의 『조선문학사』와 백철의 『신문학사조사』의 방법론과 서술체계를 분석하고자 한다. 북한 최초의 문학사인 안함광의 『조선문학사』와 해방 후 남한 최초의 문학사인 백철의 『신문학사조사』를 비교·분석하는 것은 남북한 문학사의 흐름을 보다 선명하게 이해하는 데 단초를 제공할 것이다. 이를 통해 남북한 문학사의 미학적 원리와 서술체계를 재검토하여 통일된 문학사를 위한 소통방안을 마련하는 데 일조하고자 한다.

영어초록

History of literature in South and North Korea shows different aesthetic principles and technical systems, and it differs according to those and has different qualities. If the South emphasized various technological methods of creative individuals and accomplished mainly works based on aesthetic aspects of language and art, North Korea focused on the principle of promoting revolutionary literature under the establishment of the North Korea. South Korean literary history tends to be described in various ways by the individual beliefs and standards of literary critics, and North Korea's literature history can be described as undistinguished, simple and uniform in terms of its doctrine and policies.
The literary histories of Ahn Ham-kwang and Baek Cheol Dynasties are different in their descriptions and methodologies for literature from the two Koreas, so there is a difference among what is described and the work that is important and the artist who is being evaluated. Through the process of comparing and analyzing their literary history, it is possible to review the flow and heterogeneity of the literary history of North and South Korea, and it will serve as an opportunity to approach the issue of the unified literary history, which is a challenge to be solved in the future.
Ahn Ham-kwang founded and developed peasant literature, realism, and folk literature in the pre-liberalistic literary arena, and even after liberation, he is highly regarded as a literary scholar and critic who led the literary world through setting the foundation of establishing the history of literature in North Korea and conducting active criticism activities. But his study focused on pre-liberation activities, and they tend to be largely based on realism, peasant literature, and creative methodology, and most are confined to piecemeal and partial discussions. The Chosun Literary History by Ahn Ham-kwang, the first literature historian in North Korea, was also partially addressed, but no substantial discussion has been made yet.
Baek Cheol argued with Ahn Ham-kwang about the problem of peasant literature and developed peasant literature with a different grain of sand, and they discuss pro literature, human description, homeophilism, and neo-basics. After liberation, he developed independent literature that was not biased either side of the narrative, describing the history of literature centering on the history of the nobility, and his history of literature is regarded as a comprehensive work of literature that aims to establish a new literary ideology.
In this report, I will analyze the methodology and narrative system of Ahn Ham-kwang's "Chosun Literary History" and Baek Cheol's "Neo-Literature Trend History" in comparing and analyzing the history of North and South Korean literature. Comparing and analyzing Ahn Ham-kwang's "Chosun Literary History", the first literary history of North Korea, and "Neo-Literature Trend History" of Baek Cheol, South Korea's first literary history after liberation, It will provide a basis for understanding. Through this review, we will review the aesthetic principles and narrative system of the literary history of North and South Korea and identify the meaning of literary history.
