초록

필자는 구약에서 이스라엘이 감당 했었던 선교적 사명의 구체적인 의미를, 특별히 이사야 42:1-9에 나타난 “종의 노래” 및 관련 성경본문들을 분석함으로써 살펴보았다. 즉, 언약에 기초한 구속사적 선교 이해에 대한 연구 결과를 종합하면서, 현재 포스트모더니즘과 종교다원주의 등의 다양하고도 심각한 도전들로 말미암아 “정체성의 위기”에 직면하고 있는 현대 기독교 선교에대하여 성경적 개혁주의 입장에서 선교의 본질을 정의하고 확장해 보려고 시도하였다. 이 연구에 따르면, 선교는 땅 위의 모든 나라, 모든 민족들로 하여금 창조자시요 구속자이신 삼위일체 하나님만이 참된 하나님이심을 깨달아 알게 함이며, 그 본질적인 목적은 그들로 하여금 즐겁고 기쁜 새 노래로 하나님을 찬양하게 함으로써 그를 영화롭게 하는 것이다. 이것이 바로 성령 안에서 예수 그리스도를 통하여 이방나라들에 주신 복이며 구원이다. 그러므로 21세기의 기독교 선교학은 창 1:28의 “문화대명령”(cultural mandate)과 마 28:19-20 (cf.행 1:8)의 “선교대명령”(missionary mandate)을 통합하는 새로운 선교 패러다임이 적극 모색되어야 할 것이다. 즉, 개혁주의적 영역 주권이론에 따라, 선교의 새로운 전선은 기존의 국경과 민족의 개념에 더하여 정치, 사회,교육, 문화, 철학, 과학기술, 환경, 비즈니스 등 하나님을 알지 못하며 또한 그의 절대주권을 인정하지 아니하고 복음의 진리에 대적하는 “이방 영역들”
에 더욱 적극적이며 창조적으로 확대되어져야 할 것이다.

영어초록

In this article, I dealt with the problem of mission especially in the
perspective of Reformed theology. Recently, many scholars and
missionaries point out a ‘crisis’ of the traditional concept of mission and
an emerging of ‘paradigm shift’ in contemporary missiology. Such
phenomena were a reflection of rapid cultural changes and world-wide
globalization which destroys the traditional conceptual frame of mission.
Considering this situation, I presented a need of conceptual extension for
Christian mission according to Reformed covenant theology.
First of all, I has presented that the foundation of Christian mission
should be extended from the New Testament to the Old Testament(i.e.,
the whole Scripture). As a matter of fact, the subject matter of mission
is one of the most disputable problems in the OT theology. Considering
such a debate, it is my first point in this paper to examine whether there
is or not an explicit missionary mandate in the text of Isa 42:1-9(cf.
49:6), the First Servant Song, especially in focusing on the meaning of
the phrase, “a light to the nations”, and related biblical texts. Therefore,
we can regard “the Servant Songs of Isaiah 40-55”, especially Isa 42:1-9
as the missionary “high point” in the OT.
Secondly, considering the so-called ‘identity crisis’ in the traditionalIn this article, I dealt with the problem of mission especially in the

Secondly, considering the so-called ‘identity crisis’ in the traditionalconcept of Christian mission in this postmodern cultural situation and
religious pluralism, my second point is to seek a proper concept for
Christian mission, especially in the position of Evangelical or Reformed
theological perspective. For the issue, while analyzing the biblical text of
Isa 42:1-9, we can also clearly find the true foundation and goal of
Christian mission. The central message of the Bible is that the Triune
God alone is the true God. However, this true knowledge of God which
is first revealed only to Israel should be pronounced to the world and
shared with the nations. This must be accomplished through the
missionary task of the Servant, which is to bring forth God’s jP'v.mi and
tr'At to the end of the earth. And next, the ultimate goal of Christian
mission is ‘the Glory of God.’ Therefore, in its ultimate sense, we can
say that mission is a kind of “Doxology.”
Mission is noting other than to make all peoples on the earth know,
worship, and glorify the true Living God, the Creator and the Savior.
Even this praise should be extended to the whole world of God’s
creatures, ‘heaven and earth.’ Finally, according to this study, Christian
mission is to make know the nations, all the peoples on the earth, that
there is the one true God, the Creator and the Savior, and then let them
praise God. This is the very God’s blessing which is given to the nations
through His servant people’s missionary task.
