김사량 소설의 기독교적 트랜스내셔널리즘 -「빛 속으로」, 「천마」, 「광명」을 중심으로 (Christian Transnationalism in Kim Sa-ryang’s Novels -Focusing on “Into the Light”, “Cheonma”, and “Gwangmyeong”)

초록

이 글은 ‘친일-저항’이라는 이분법적 내셔널 관점을 넘어 김사량의 작품을 새롭 게 해석할 단초를 마련하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 제국의 위장논리인 내선일체 관념의 중층성을 논의하고 「빛 속으로」, 「천마」, 「광명」에서 시도되는 내선일체 관 념의 전유에 주목하여 김사량 소설의 트랜스내셔널리즘적 성격을 규명한다.
김사량의 내선일체 지향은 일제에 대한 정치적 협력이 아니라 본질적인 사랑의 가치를 되찾기 위한 문학적 실천이다. 김사량은 먼저 「빛 속으로」를 통해 조선인과 혼혈인의 화해를 시도함으로써 차별적 내선일체 관념을 깨면서 공동체적 의미에서 의 내선일체 이미지를 제시한다. 조선인과 혼혈인의 화해란 미나미 선생이 남 선생 으로 변하여 혼혈인과 조선인의 아들 하루오를 사랑으로 품는 과정을 말한다.
그러나 「천마」에서는 내지인임을 주장하는 현룡에 대한 자조, 높은 빈도로 나타 나는 기독교 희화화, 과도할 정도로 예수와 자신을 동일시하는 장면과 함께 ‘야마 토다마시 세례’라는 타협의 길 앞에서 고뇌하는 식민지인의 모습이 제시된다. 이는 「빛 속으로」의 부정적 평가에 대한 극단적 방어기제로 읽힌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 김사량은 「광명」에서 내선일체 관념의 재구성을 다시 한번 시도하며 조선인과 일 본인으로 이루어진 가정의 화합 과정을 통해 일제의 정치적 내선융화 방향성을 ‘원 수 사랑’이라는 기독교 핵심 교리로 전유한다.
즉, 김사량은 「빛 속으로」, 「천마」, 「광명」을 통해 천황 중심으로 제국을 수립하고자 하는 수직적 내선일체 관념을 완전히 전복시켰을 뿐만 아니라, 기독교적 교리 를 방법론으로 하는 새로운 일제 말기 조선인의 트랜스내셔널리즘을 제안하였다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This article discusses the multilayered nature of the concept of unity between Japan and Korea as the empire's camouflage logic, and identifies the nature of transnationalism that Kim Sa-ryang seeks to pursue through the appropriation of the idea of ​un​ity between Japan and Korea promoted by Japanese imperialism in “Into the Light”, “Cheonma”, and “Gwangmyeong” This is to provide a starting point for a new interpretation of Kim Sa-ryang’s works beyond the dichotomous national perspective of ‘pro-Japanese/resistance’.
Kim Sa-ryang's intention to unite Korea and Japan is not a political cooperation against Japanese colonial rule, but a literary practice to restore the essential value of love. First, Sa-Ryang Kim attempted reconciliation between Koreans and people of mixed race through “Into the Light,” thereby breaking the discriminatory concept of unity between Korea and Korea and presenting an image of unity between Korea and Korea in the sense of a world community. The reconciliation between Koreans and people of mixed race refers to the process in which Teacher Minami changes into a male teacher and embraces Haruo, the son of a person of mixed race and Korean, with love.
However, in “Cheonma”, along with the self-deprecation of Hyeon-ryong, who claims to be an indigenous person(Japanese), the frequent caricature of Christianity, and excessive identification with Jesus, the image of a colonial citizen suffering before the path to compromise called ‘Yamatodamashi baptism’ is presented. This can be read as an extreme defense mechanism against the negative evaluation of “Into the Light”. Nevertheless, in “Gwangmyeong”, Kim Sa-ryang once again attempts to reconstruct the concept of unity between Korea and Japan, and appropriates the direction of political harmony between Japan and Japan as a core Christian doctrine of ‘love for one’s enemies’ through the process of harmony between Korean and Japanese families.
In other words, through “Into the Light”, “Cheonma”, and “Gwangmyeong”, Kim Sa-ryang not only completely overthrew the concept of vertical unity between Japan and Korea, which sought to establish an empire centered on the emperor, but also proposed a new transnationalism of Joseon people in the late Japanese colonial period using Christian doctrine as a methodology.
