전간기 프랑스 내 이탈리아 이민자들의 신앙생활 -파리 라 빌레트 지역을 중심으로- (The Religious Practice of the Italian Immigrants in France during the Inter-war period: the Case of La Villette at Paris)

Dans les études de l’intégration des migrants, la mentalité collective est un aspect particulièrement important pour examiner le changement/ persistence de leur identité au cours de la migration. Comme le catholicisme est une base de voûte encadrant la vie générale des Italiens tel que coutume et culture outre que religion, suivre comment la pratique religieuse évolue parmi les immigrants à l’étranger est un essai suffisament efficace pour qu’on vérifie le changement de leur identité. Malgré cette pertinence, on n’a guère eu des travaux sur la vie religieuse des immigrés Italiens en France pendant l’entre-deux- guerres, à cause du manque de traces et de sources, etc.
Cet article reconstruit l’aspect réel de la pratique religieuse des Italiens à La Villette, s’appliquant l’analyse statistique de la démographie, en confrontation des sources conservées à la paroisse de La Villette avec des autres dont la liste nominative des recensements. Tout d’abord, on voit que la pratique religieuse au milieu des Italiens n’a pas disparu si vite durant l’entre-deux-guerres, mais se maintient mê̂me jusqu’après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Parmi les raisons de cette persistance religieuse, décisive, c’est la composition des immigrés selon la durée de séjour en France: c’est-à-dire que les migrants arrivés après la Première Guerre mondiale se consistent de la majorité d’eux. Ainsi, il faut que l’intégration à l’échelle de la communauté soit expliquée par l’ensemble de la fonction entre expériences pré- migratoires et post-migratoires, qui se manifeste à l’échelle de l’indlvidu. De plus, la foi est liée non seulement à la mentalité du monde pré-migratoire mais aussi à l’élargissement de la relation sociale avec des autochtones. Quant à l’intégration, on doit donc signaler qu’une caractéristique ne contient pas qu’une orientation mais peut avoir plusieurs aspects. Tous ces faits montrent bien qu’à la différence des résultats déjà obtenus la communauté des Italiens de La Villette était encore en train de la stabilisation et de l’intégration durant l’entre- deux-guerres.

In the studies of the integration of the migrants, the collective mentality is a specially important aspect for examining the change/ persistence of their identity in the process of migration. As the catholicism is a pivotal base which frames the Italians’ general life as custom and culture more than religion, to probe into how the religious practice develops among the immigrants abroad is a sufficiently effective assay for verifying the change of their identity. In spite of this relevance, we have nearly few studies on the religious life of Italian immigrants in France during the inter-war period for lack of sources, etc.
This article reconstructs the real aspect of religious practice of the Italians at La Villette, applying the demographic statistical analyse, collating the sources conserved at the parish church of La Villette with the others, in particular nominal lists of the census. Above all, we see that the religious practice among the Italians has not disappeared so fast during the inter-war period, but keeps up until after the Second World War. Among the reasons of this religious persistence, the composition of immigrants according to the length of stay in France is decisive: in other words, the migrants which arrived after the First World War constitute their majority. So, it is necessary that the integration at the level of the community is explained by the total of the function between the pre-migratory experience and the post-migratory experience, which comes in evidence at the level of individual. Furthermore, the creed is related not only to the mentality of the pre-migratory world but also to the enlargement of the social relation with natives. As for the integration, we must therefore bring out that a characteristic does not concern only one orientation, but can have pleural aspects. All these facts show that unlike the results already obtained, the Italian community of La Villette was still in course of stabilization and integration during the inter-war period.
