愼妃復位疏 論難과 再評價의 性格 (A Study on the Criticisms about the Appeal for the Restoration of Shin and the Nature of Its Reevaluation)

초록

본고는 1515년(중종 10) 박상 등이 삼인대에서 올린 신씨복위소의 전말과 그에 대한 논란과 후대 재평가의 성격을 검토한 글이다. 순창 삼인대의 신씨복위상소는 조선전기 사림정신을 상징하는 대표적 사건으로 소릉복위 상소와 함께 사림파의 결속력과 정치참여의 계기를 마련한 사건으로 주목되어 왔다. 그리하여 순창의 삼인대 상소는 단순한 상소사건으로 그치지 않고 조선전기 사림활동의 큰 계기를 마련했다는 역사적 의미를 지니게 되었다.
愼妃復位疏는 愼妃의 복위가 근본 사단이지만, 그것만을 위한 것이라기보다 인조반정 3공신의 정치세력을 구축하려는 사림들의 본격적인 정치운동의 성격이 강했다. 즉 愼妃復位疏 사건은 중앙정계에 사림파의 주장과 목소리를 드높이는 계기를 만들었고 급기야 훈구파의 불안감을 조장하여 기묘사화를 일으키게 하였던 것이다.
박상·김정 등의 신씨복위상소는 당시에는 목적을 달성하지 못했지만, 1698년(속종 24) 9월 申奎가 단종 복위와 관련하여 올린 상소에서 폐비신씨 문제에 대한 박상 등의 상소가 지닌 역사적 가치를 재평가하였다. 그리고 이로부터 40년 뒤인 1739년(영조 15)에 신씨복위는 이루어졌고 그해 8월에는 영조가 온릉에 친히 행차하기에 이르렀다. 후일 영조와 정조는 신씨복위소에 대하여 칭탄하기도 하였다.
한편 신씨가 端敬王后로 복위되자 5년 뒤인 순창에서는 삼인대의 三賢을 기리는 사우를 건립하려 하였지만, 마침 국가의 금령으로 사우의 신설은 이루지 못하고 1744년(영조 19) 순창에서는 그 유서가 깃든 淳昌 三印臺 碑를 세우게 된 것이다.

영어초록

This paper reviewed the course of events regarding the appeal for the restoration of Shin in Samindae by Park Sang and others in 1515, the criticisms about it, and the nature of its reevaluation by the following generations. The appeal for the restoration of Shin in Snmindae of Sunchang is an event that represented the Sarim spirit in the former half of Joseon and has been attracting attention as the event to create an opportunity for the Sarims to consolidate their solidarity and participate in politics along with the appeal for the restoration of Soreung. The appeal for the restoration of Shin to Samindae has thus gained a historical meaning of creating an important opportunity for Sarim activities in the former half of Joseon instead of remaining as a simple appeal event. The fundamental ground for the appeal for the restoration of Queen Shin was his restoration, but the appeal was rather a part of the full-blown political movement of establishing political force for the three meritorious retainers among the Sarims. In other words, the appeal led to a chance for the Sarims to raise their opinions and voices in the central politics and eventually caused Gimyosahwa by creating anxiety among the Hungus. The aPPeal for the restoration of Shin by Park Sang and Kim Jeong failed to achieve its purpose at that time, but Shin Gyu reevaluated the historical values of appeals on the issue of Disposed Queen Shin by Park Sang and others in his appeal regarding the restoration of King Danjong in September, 1698(24th year of King Sukjong`s reign). The restoration of Shin was finally achieved in 1739(15th year of King Yeongjo`s reign) 40 years after the event. In August of the same year, King Yeongjo personally visited Onreung. Both King Yeongjo and Jeongjo praised and admired the appeal for the restoration of Shin later. Five years the restoration of Shin to Queen Dangyeong, they attempted to build a shrine for the three sages of Samindae in Sunchng.Even though a shrine was not built due to the national ban, Samindae Monument of Sunchang was set up containing those stories in Sunchang in 1744(19th year or King Yeongjo`s reign).
