『中庸』의 費而隱에 관한 현대적 해석 (Modern Analysis on the Wide and Far and the Secret of the Doctrine of the Mean)

초록

現代科學의 發達은 宇宙와 自然 및 人間에 대한 기존의 認識과 價値體系를 변화시키고 새로운 體系確立을 요구한다. 人間의 感覺器官으로 이해하지 못했던 形而上學的 觀念도 실현상적으로 증명됨에 따라 儒學의 논의내용도 변화되지 않을 수 없게 되었다. 太極으로부터 이루어지는 道와 理 그리고 陰陽五行의 성질을 가진 氣로 된 萬物의 運行過程도 점점 形而下學的으로 자세하게 설명되어 간다. 道는 理와 氣가 그 안에서 운행되어 가도록 연장된 길이라고 할 수 있다. 理는 氣의 運行時 基準이 되며 정상을 유지하게 하는 中正의 條理가 되고, 氣는 음양의 성질을 가진 微氣들로 離合集散을 하는 形氣와 理의 中正에 相應하도록 相生相剋의 조절을 하는 流行의 運氣로 구성된다.
原子는 中性子와 함께 核이 되는 陽子와 陰電子로 구성되는 것이었으나, 최근에는 양자도 6종의 쿼크로 구성되고, 음전자도 6종의 렙톤으로 구성되었다는 것이 발견되었고, 그들의 기능도 밝혀져 가고 있다. 生物의 發生學에서도 渾然一體로 凝縮된 太極의 元氣로부터 발생된 人極의 生殖細胞가 萬能의 未分化細胞로부터 組織細胞로 分化되어 臟器를 구성하고 그 機能이 밝혀짐에 따라 人性과 心性에 대한 認識과 價値가 달라지고 修養方法도 多樣化되어 간다.
우주와 만물에는 太極으로부터 시작된 하나의 道가 條理로 分枝되어 우주만물에 분포되고 그 안에는 中正을 유지하는 理에 따라 이합집산의 음양과 相生相剋의 五行氣가 관통ㆍ운행 한다. 이러한 도는 하늘에서는 天道를 이루고 物에서는 物道를 이루며 사람에게서는 人道를 이루며, 그 내부의 微細한 道管들은 외부의 道로도 연계되어 관통된다. 하늘과 物 그리고 사람에게서는 미분화의 혼연한 氣로 응축되어 구성된 최초의 기준점이 되는 태극으로부터 시작된 隱微한 理氣가 誠ㆍ性ㆍ心이 되어 道를 통해 우주만물에 널리 분포되어 費를 이루게 되는 것이다.
본 논문에서는 『中庸』의 ‘費而隱’ 章이 현대과학의 실상에 부합되도록 유학의 해석을 시도하였으며, 道로서의 費而隱, 德으로서의 費而隱 및 神으로서의 費而隱으로 구분하여 자세히 살펴보았다.

영어초록

The development of modern science has been changed the old system of idea in the epistemology and axiology on the universe, nature and human being, and has been needed the establishment of a new idea system. The contents of discussion for Confucianism have been changed as proving phenomenally the metaphysical idea what we did not understand with our sensory organs. The details of the movement process in all things and in the universe constituted of ways(道), Principles(理) and Energy(氣) have been explained by the physical science. The Ways are connected with one another, the Principle and Energy in the ways are moving. The Principle tried to keep the standard of impartibility(中正) in the moving process of energy. The Energy constitutes of the formal energy that it separates and unites and the moving energy that it controls to help and destroy mutually.
The atom constitutes of the nucleus contains a proton and a neutron and the negative electron. But recently the corpuscles of 6 kinds in the nucleus and the corpuscles of 6 kinds in the electron have been discovered and have been knowing some of their functions. In the embryology of animals, the Great Absolute(太極) has been condensed the energies to a perfect harmony. The Human Pole(人極) has been originated from the Great Absolute and the undifferentiated cells(未分化細胞) have been originated from the Human Pole, and the cells were almighty cells(全能細胞). The cells in the tissues were originated from the almighty cells and then the cells were differentiated. The differentiated cells have formed organs and body. Recently, as the function of brain has been known, the epistemology and axilology of human nature(人性) and disposition(心性) has been changed, and the methods of cultivation of mind has been diversified.
In the universe and all things, the way were originated from the Great Absolute were branched into many ways and were distributed. And in the ways, there were the Principles for the standard of impartibility and the energies have been tried to harmonise with the principles. The ways have become sky ways in the universe, material ways in all things and human ways in men. These ways have been connected with the outside or inside ways. The Great Absolute became of wholly energy, it was the first standard point. The secret principle and energy in the Great Absolute became Sung(誠) in the universe, Sung(性) in all things and Mind(心) in human being. They have been passed through in the ways and distributed in the universe, and then became of wide and far(費).
In this treatise, I have tried to coincide the analysis of Confucianism with the real situation of modern science, and to explain the wide and far and the secret of way(道), the wide and far and the secret of virtue(德) and the wide and far and the secret of spirit(神).
