초록

역사는 굳어진 화석이 아니라 현재에도 여전히 생명력을 가지고 있으며, 현재와 미래와 끊임없이 소통한다. 역사 아동소설(동화)은 역사적 사건을 소재로 허구적 상상력을 첨가한, 아동을 위한 서사문학으로 정의 내릴 수 있다. 역사가들이 실재 역사에 초점을 맞춘다면, 작가들은 실재 역사 위에 문학적 상상력을 올려놓는다. 작가가 가진 가치관이나 그가 처한 사회적 상황에서 받은 영향관계 때문에 각기 다른 해석이 가능하기 때문이다. 이런 연유로 역사가와 작가들은 서로 다른 입장에 설 수 있다는 것을 인정해야 한다.
작가는 역사 아동소설(동화) 창작에 있어 있는 역사를 재현하고 또 허구의 역사를 창조해야 하는 이중고를 겪게 된다. 어려운 작업이니만큼 역사를 재조명하고 그것을 다른 방식으로 드러내는 것은 나름대로 충분한 의미와 가치를 지닌다. 두 작품은 그 동안 거대담론에 집착하던 시각을 돌려서 작고 보잘 것 없는 ‘궁녀’라는 인물들을 통해 여인상을 제시하고 있다. 특히 실재 인물보다 개연성 있는 가공인물을 통해 당대와 작가가 의도하는 바를 작품에 녹여내고 있다. 작품에서 구현한 세 가지 여성상은 과거의 남성영웅을 주인공으로 했던 역사소설과 달리 투철한 작가의 실험정신이 돋보인다. 전근대와 근대가 공존했던 혼돈의 시대에 평등한 여성상이나 정체성을 찾아가는 여성상, 미래지향적인 여성상은 개연성과 더불어 현대적 해석이 들어간 것이다. 과거와 현재를 아우를 수 있는 조건이 촘촘히 전개된다면 작품 자체가 문제가 되지는 않을 것이다.
소용돌이 같은 역사 속에 보잘 것 없는 인물을 통해 본 시대와 여성상은 그 나름대로 충분한 의미가 있다. 거대한 사건, 거대한 담론만을 중심축에 두었던 과거와는 달리 작고 미세한 사건과 인물들로 하여금 역할을 감당하게 하는 작품도 분명히 독자들에게 필요하며 더 친숙하게 다가갈 수 있다. 두 작품은 다양성을 추구하는 21세기에 단연 돋보이는 작품이며, 앞으로 역사를 소재로 한 다양한 작품이 나오길 기대한다.

영어초록

History is not a stiff fossil but it still has a life and it endlessly communicates with both present and future. Historical children novel(children's story) can be defined as a narrative literature for children which adds fictitious imagination based on the historical accidents. While historians focus on the realistic history, writers put the literary imagination on the realistic history. For writer's sense of value or their influential relationship in society, they can be possible to interpret history according to their own view. So we have to admit that both historians and writers can stand for different point of view.
When creating historical novel for children, the author is suffered from double hardship for both reappearing history and creating fictitious history. Reconfirming history and showing it with different way has sufficient meaning and value for the difficulties. The two literary works turn the view clinging to the huge discussion to the little and valueless 'Court Lady' and show the image of woman through her. Especially, these works put the intention of author and those days into the works through fictional character rather than real person. The three images of women they constructed in the literature is different with the historical novel which focused on the historical hero so they bring out the experimental intention of authors. In the chaotic period coexisting both premodern and modern age, the equal, finding identity or future intentional women image is added both probability and the modern interpretation. If the condition that can merge to the past and the present is spread elaborately, these literature works can not be troubled.
Image of the time and woman through insignificant person in the swirling history has a sufficient meaning itself. Unlike the past tendency which focused on the huge accident or discussion, today's works which give a main role to the small and minute accident and people also clearly need to the readers and can approach more friendly. The two pieces of work are decisively distinguished from the 21th century where pursues variety and I look forward to that various works of historical children novels and children's story are published.
