초록

As is well known, since ancient times, ‘Clothes, Food and Housing’ have been of great importance in any country as they are essential elements to human life. Thus, the terms that represent ‘Clothes, Food and Housing’ are comprehensive and also widely used words. We can understand the cultural and linguistic characteristics of a country from this aspect. Particularly in China’s 5,000-year-old history, a number of literary works have been published within which we can track the longevity of Chinese history and culture.
This thesis focuses primarily on the use of the Wearing Verb(穿着动词) of ‘Clothes’. Wearing Verbs are among the most widely and frequently used in Chinese language, and therefore have been studied by many researchers. But while the generic research on Wearing Verbs in Chinese language is very active, studies on the classification of Wearing Verbs in ancient Chinese are still lacking.
The research method of this paper is to use ancient literary texts to review history and to classify Wearing Verbs according to wearing position. The purpose is to provide accurate information on the Wearing Verbs used, and to be used for those who study and research. It will also allow foreigners who learn Chinese language to better understand cultural and linguistic characteristics of Wearing Verbs.
In conclusion, the Wearing Verbs used in ancient Chinese literary works were classified into three major categories, namely ‘Whole body, Head, Hand and Foot’, and they were also classified into a total of fifteen Wearing Verbs as follows: ‘衣、服、被、披、著、着、穿、带、佩、装、戴、冠、妆、履、蹑’ among them the following 10 Wearing Verbs are related to the Whole body ‘衣、服、被、披、著、着、穿、带、佩、装’ the following 7 Wearing Verbs related to the Head ‘戴、冠、妆、著、着、穿、带’ and the following 6 related to Hand and Foot ‘戴、穿、履、蹑、著、着’
