차이의 지정학과 사랑의 정동 - 탈북을 소재로 한 아동청소년문학 작품을 중심으로 (The Geopolitics of Difference and Affect of Love - Focusing on children's literature on the escape of North Korea)

초록

본고는 아동청소년문학 작품들에 나타난 탈북 서사가 어떠한 방식으로 정서적 반응을 유도하고 있는가를 분석해보고자 한다. 그 저변에는 인식되기 이전의 감각이 타자를 어떻게 수용하는가의 문제를 고민하고 타자의 윤리학이 우리의 삶에 과연 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 살펴보려는 의도가 자리한다. 나아가 경계의 틀을 가로지르는 역동성이 ‘정동(情動 affect)으로의 전환’을 촉발할 수 있는지 그 가능성을 타진해 봄으로써 공감 불능의 시대라 부를 수 있는 지금, 이 자리에서 아동청소년문학이 담당해야 하는 역할이 과연 무엇인가를 묻고자 한다.
지금까지 탈북을 소재로 한 아동청소년문학 작품들은 탈북자들을 집합적 주체로 설정하여 그들 내부의 차이를 지우고, 탈북자들을 향한 동정과 연민의 감정을 재생산해왔다. 그것은 곧 탈북자를 향한 시선이 감정의 정치를 따라 이데올로기화 되는 과정이었다. 우리와 그들로 구분하는 이분법적 인식에서 비롯된 거리두기가 독자들의 눈물샘을 자극함으로써 우리/그들의 차이를 일시적으로 봉합해버리는 감정의 정치가 강력한 힘을 발휘했던 것이다.
무엇보다 탈북 어린이/청소년이 고통스러운 삶을 견뎌야 하는 이유는 그들이 바로 북한에서 태어났다는 지정학적 조건 때문이다. 그들의 삶과 지정학은 하나의 쌍으로 작용하며 탈북 어린이/청소년이 스스로의 정체성을 탐색하는 데 영향을 미친다. <리무산의 서울 입성기>의 주인공 무산과 <난민 소녀 리도희>의 도희는 경계인의 정체성을 지니고 있으나 도희의 경우는 극한의 상황에서 자발적으로 로컬과 삶의 관계를 새롭게 규정하려 시도하는 트랜스로컬의 주체성을 지닌 존재라 할 수 있다.
2015년 이후 탈북 어린이/청소년의 삶을 서사화하는 아동청소년문학 작품들은 자본주의 사회의 모순과 계급적 차이에 주목하기 시작한다. 다중 정체성을 추구하는 트랜스로컬의 주체성을 사유하고, 탈북자들 내부에 존재하는 차이를 이야기하며 글로벌디자인으로 재편된 우리사회의 폭력을 서사화하기도 한다. 이처럼 계급적 차이를 인정하고 사랑의 정동으로 새로운 삶의 공간을 창조해가는 최근 작품들은 차이의 지정학이라 부를 수 있는 일련의 흐름을 구성하고 있다. 트랜스로컬의 주체성에 주목함으로써 정동의 변환을 말하려는 이와 같은 시도는 자본주의 체제의 폭력 아래 놓인 오늘날의 어린이와 청소년들이 타자에게 다가가는 걸음을 옮길 수 있도록 사랑의 손길을 건네고 있다. 이것이야말로 문학이 실천하는 삶의 정치라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The study analyzes how North Korean escapee narratives in children's and adolescents' literature induce emotional reactions to their readers. This is to consider how the pre-recognition sense accepts the other and how the ethics of the other affect our lives. Furthermore, this study attempts to explore the possibility of how texts can trigger 'the transition to affects'. Also, people say that modern society is an era of incompatibility, and we will think about what role children and adolescent literature should play in these times.
Until now, literature on children and adolescents from North Korea has recreated the North Korean defectors as a collective subject and eliminated the differences within them. Moreover, these texts have consistently reproduced these feelings so that readers have sympathy and compassion for defectors. In other words, it was a process in which the gaze toward North Korean defectors was ideologicalized by the politics of emotion. We have divided them from us in a dichotomous attitude, and the effect of distance from this attitude has caused the reader to weep. Thus, the emotional politics that temporarily sealed us and their differences demonstrated a strong power.
Above all, the reason why North Korean defectors' children/adolescents have to endure painful lives is because of the geopolitical conditions that they were born in North Korea. Their lives and geopolitics work as a pair, influencing the search for their own identity by North Korean children/adolescents. Mu-san, the main character of Lee mu-san's entry into Seoul, and Do-hee of Refugee Girl Lee Do-hee, have the identity of a person on the border, but Do-hee tries to redefine the relationship between local and life voluntarily under extreme circumstances. In this sense, Do-hee is a person who has the identity of trans-local.
Since 2015, children and adolescent literature works that narrate the lives of North Korean defectors and adolescents began to pay attention to the contradictions and class differences in capitalist society. These works reflect the trans-local identity of pursuing multiple identities, talk about differences within North Korean defectors, and narrative of violence in our society reorganized into global design. These recent works, which recognize class differences and create a new space of life through love, constitute a series of trends that can be called the geopolitics of difference. This attempt to speak of the transformation of affection by paying attention to the trans-local identity is giving a loving hand so that today's children and adolescents, under the violence of the capitalist system, can take a step closer to others. This is the politics of life practiced by literature.
