탈북 디아스포라 고려인 소설 연구 (Study on the Novels by North Korean Diaspora)

초록

본 연구는 중앙아시아 고려인 문학 중에서 북한출신 작가들의 소설 작품에 대한분석이다. 이들은 대부분 한국전쟁 때 국비로 소련에 유학하던 중에, 김일성 우상화에 반대하여 망명을 선택한 사람들이다. 이들은 어느 시기 이후에는 고려인 문단에서 중추의 역할을 맡게 되었다.
탈북 고려인 문인들의 작품은 다른 고려인들의 작품과 일정한 차이를 보인다.
첫째, 한국전쟁을 다루면서 전쟁을 일으킨 자에 대한 비판과 남북의 군사들이고용병의 처지일 뿐임을 깨닫는 정체성의 각성에 따른 염증을 강조한다. 또한부적절한 전쟁에 대한 비판의식을 적극적인 행동으로 옮기는 인물들을 형상화하고 있다. 둘째, 북한 사회에 대해 예민한 비판의식을 드러낸다. 억압적인 북한사회주의 체제의 비효율성과 김일성 우상화를 비판하고, 그로 인해 사소한 실수에도 두려워할 수밖에 없는 불행한 삶을 그리고 있다. 셋째, 중앙아시아에서의삶의 어두운 면을 포착한다. 다른 고려인 작가들의 작품이 고려인들이 이룬 성취에 주로 집중하는 것과 대조적이다. 강제이주를 형상화하는 것에서도 차이를보인다. 부당한 정책에 대해 적극적으로 행동하는 고려인의 모습을 형상화하고, 고향에 묻힐 수 없는 존재로서 고려인의 정체성에 대한 인식이 드러난다.
탈북 고려인 작가들은 자신들이 거부했던 북한과 비슷한 상황의 소련에서, 쉽게 동화될 수 없었을 것이고, 그로 인해 다른 고려인들과도 거리감을 느꼈을 것이다. 그들은 다른 한민족 디아스포라 작가들과 달리 모국과도 의식적으로 괴리된 상태에 놓여 있음으로 인해 이중의 경계인이 된다. 그런 특성 때문에 북한과소련의 현실에 대한 적극적인 문제의식을 드러내는 작품들을 산출했다.

영어초록

This study examined the novels of North Korean writers among the Korean literature in Central Asia. Although there are not many of them, they have played a central role in the Korean literary world since a certain period of time. Most of them are those who chose exile instead of returning to home country while studying in the Soviet Union on government scholarships during the Korean War in opposition to the idolization of Kim Il Sung in North Korea. Though they released literature works right after exile, it seems that their works began to be published in general collection of works in the 1980s. In this aspect, it is deemed that their works were not initially accepted favorably in the Korean literature circle.
The works of North Korean defector writers show a certain level of differences from other works by Koreans. First, they capture the dark side of life in Central Asia. This is contrary to other writers’ works that kept silence or mentioned just ambiguously about the forced deportation process or miserable post-deportation predicaments while focusing mainly on the successful achievements after being a hero thanks to a lot of efforts. Second, the Korean War is a very unique material that can be deal with only by North Korean defector writers.
In dealing with the Korean War, they criticize those who caused the war and emphasize the disillusion about soldiers participating in the war, who realized their identity as nothing more a hired soldier. They also give a shape to characters who put into practice critical thoughts about inappropriate war. Third, they show sensitive criticism against doctrinaire distorted and suppressive society. Forth, their works show differences in shaping the forced deportation process. They portrait the kind of Korean people who act proactively against unfair policies and reveal their awareness on the identity of Koreans as a being who cannot be buried in their home soil.
North Korean defector writers might be hardly assimilated to the Soviet Union which was similar to North Korea they had refused to accept. And for this reason, they also might have felt distanced from other Korean people. Unlike other Korean diaspora writers, they were consciously distanced from those in their home country to become doubly marginalized subjects. For this characteristic, they produced literature works revealing active critical thoughts about the reality in North Korea and Soviet Union.
