재북 시기 신고송의 문필 활동 (Dialectical review of the literary activities of Shin Gosong during his time in North Korea)

초록

신고송은 1946년 봄 월북하여 북한 초기 희곡과 공연예술에서 중심인물로 활동했다. 이 글은 재북 시기 그의 문필 활동을 발굴하여 새 문헌지를 마련하고자 하는 목표로 이루어졌다. 그리하여 이미 알려진 81 편을 넘어서는 88편을 찾았다. 논의는 그들을 낱책과 낱글로 가르고, 낱글은 다시 창작 문학과 비평 문학 쪽 둘로 나누어 이루어졌다. 첫째, 재북 시기 신고송이 낸 낱책은 5종 5책이 알려져 왔다. 여기에 6종 7권을 더한다. 희곡집 2권과 번역서 2종 3권, 곧 모스크바 예술극장 (1949) 상, 하와 쓰따니 쓸랍스끼의 체계와 쏘베트 연극(1958)에다 천리마 시대를 기리는 그림이야기책 새살림(1957), 위대한 전변의 봄 (1960)이 그들이다. 신고송의 다양한 출판 활동을 일깨운 셈이다. 둘째, 창작 문학 쪽 발굴 낱글은 29편이다. 신고송이 북한에서 쓴 유일한 노랫말 가락글 1편에서부터 전쟁기 종군 활동기, 전후 기행문, 농업협동조합 답사기에 걸친 오체르크 5편, 개인 회고와 신년․송년 단상을 거쳐 남한 ‘해방’ 전략 전술, 북한 현실 찬양으로 이어진 수필 23편이 그들이다. 수필에서는 북한 사회주의의 승리와 남한의 패배라는 도식을되풀이했다. 셋째, 신고송의 비평 낱글 52편을 찾았다. 연극예술 비평45편에다 정론 5편, 번역 비평과 좌담 1편씩을 더한 숫자다. 그 중심인연극예술 비평에서는 이론비평부터 북한 연극예술사, 당대 실천비평, 소련․중국 예술단 공연평, 인형극평, 영화비평까지 이어졌다. 북한 사회주의 현실주의 연극의 중심 비평가로서 압도적인 자리를 확인할 수있었다. 이 글에서 찾은 작품을 더해 새로 갈무리한 재북 시기 신고송의 문필은 낱책 11종 12권, 낱글 157편이다. 이 글로 말미암아 그의 문학이 지닌 지속성과 무거움은 물론 북한 연극예술사를 속속들이 재구성할 수 있을 정보를 적지 않게 얻을 수 있었다. 앞으로 본격 연구로나아갈 수 있을 길이 크게 넓어진 셈이다.

영어초록

Shin Gosong left for North Korea in 1946 and emerged as an important figure in the field of plays and performing arts in North Korea. This paper was written to shed new light on his literary works.
Originally, 81 works of his were known but here we discuss 88 works.
The discussion is carried out by individual volume and individual pieces, with individual pieces reviewed in the categories of creative literature and literary critique.
First, five types of five volumes were known as those published by Shin Gosong during his time in North Korea. We added six types of seven volumes. These are two volumes of plays, three volumes of two types of translated books, which are Moscow Art Theater(1949) volume I and volume II, Stani Solavski’s system and Soviet Theater(1958), Picture Stories Commemorating the Chonrima Era(cartoon) titled New Life(1957), The Great Spring of Jeonbyeon(1960). These widens the perspective on the various publications of Shin Gosong.
Second, there are 29 works that have been discovered in the area of creative literature. These range from the only lyrics to a song Shin wrote in North Korea to his memoirs from the days in the military, travel essays after the war, five essays on visiting the agriculture cooperatives, and 23 essays that cover various subjects from reflection on his personal life to reflections on the new year or end of year, the ‘liberation’ strategies and tactics of South Korea and championing of the realities of North Korea. The essays continue the formula of depicting socialism in North Korea as a success and South Korea as having failed.
Third, 52 individual critique essays of Song were also discovered.
These range from 45 critical reviews on theater, five essays on theory and one critical review on translation and one essay on a discussion.
At the center are the critical reviews on theater that cover theory to North Korean theater history, critical review of the practice at the time, critical review of performances by Soviet or Chinese performing groups, reviews of marionette plays and of films. These prove that he was the leading critics of socialist, realist theater in North Korea in his time.
In addition to the works discovered, the existing works were also compiled together to make them a total of 11 types of 12 volumes or 157 individual works. This compilation helped review a wealth of information that can recompose the history of theater art in North Korea, in addition to rediscovering the continuity and heaviness in his own literature. The paper is significant in broadening the horizon for more in-depth work on Shin Gosong.
