해방 후 중국 上海지역 일본군 ‘위안부’의 집단수용과 귀환 (Group Accommodation and Repatriation Japanese Military ‘Comfort Women’ in Shanghai, China after Termination of Pacific War)

아시아·태평양 지역으로 침략전선을 확대해간 일본제국주의는 치밀하게 일본군 ‘위안부’를 강제동원했지만, 전쟁 종결 후 이들을 현지에 방치했다. 일본의 책임방기로 인해 일본군 ‘위안부’는 종전의 소용돌이에 내던져졌다. 그런 가운데 이들이 어떤 환경 속에서 해방을 겪었는지조차 제대로 파악되지 못했다. 이 논문은 중국 상해지역에 수용되었던 한인 여성들을 통해 일본군 ‘위안부’가 처한 해방의 현실을 규명하고자 했다.
전쟁 종결 당시 중국에 있던 일본군 ‘위안부’는 ‘일반 한인[韓僑]’로 구분되어 처리되었다. 대부분의 여성들은 일반인과 마찬가지로 거주지 인근의 항구에 집결된 후 1946년 이후 귀환하거나 중국에 잔류하였다. 이때 귀환하지 않고 현지에 일시 체류하고 있던 여성들에게는 혹독한 ‘이력조사’ 혹은 ‘거주조사’ 등이 뒤따랐고, 이들 중 일부는 ‘풍기문란’ 등을 이유로 강제수용당하다가 송환되었다.
중일전쟁 이후 일본군의 교두보였던 상해(上海)는 친일한인의 경제적 거점이 되었다. 1945년 8월 무렵 상해에는 약 5천명의 일반 교민과 귀국하기 위해 화중(華中)지역에서 몰려든 한인들로 북적였다. 이 중에는 일본군 ‘위안부’로 동원되었다가 현지에 방치된 여성들도 있었다. 이때 한국부녀공제회는 이들을 ‘구호갱생’시킨다며 여성들을 집단수용했지만, 사실 공제회는 과거 위안업자 등이 간여하고 있었다. 결국 한인 여성들은 전쟁이 끝난 후에도 ‘업자’에게 휘둘리며 해방되지 못했다.
부녀공제회에 수용되었던 여성들은 1946년 3월부터 한국광복군 주호잠편지대와 함께 귀환하기 시작했다. 그러나 일부는 귀환을 포기하고 상해거리를 전전하다가 현지 당국의 통제를 받기도 했다. 또 일부는 귀향을 주저하며 현지인과 결혼하기도 했다. 전쟁 종결과 함께 일본제국주의로부터 벗어난 여성들은 역설적으로 해방과 혼돈의 교차점에 방치되어 어떠한 보호와 보상도 받지 못했다.

영어초록

Japanese imperialism which expanding front line to Asian and Pacific in the Pacific War tightly forced mobilization of Japanese military ‘comfort women’. But Pacific War ended later, Japanese imperialism left Japanese military ‘comfort women’ in front line. Japanese military ‘comfort women’. Japanese military ‘comfort women’ fell into the vortex of the ‘termination of war’ by the irresponsibility of Japanese imperialism. But it did not properly understand what they went through the liberation in any environment. Therefore, this study attempted to investigate the reality facing the Japanese military ‘comfort women’ by the case of Korean women were housed in the Shanghai area in China after termination of Pacific War.
Japanese military ‘comfort women’ in China at the time of the war´s end were treated as ordinary Koreans. Except in some cases, most women were gathered near the port of residence just like ordinary people and returned to Korea since 1946 or retained in China. The women retained in China temporary stayed retained in local residence were undergone rigorous ‘historical research’ or ‘resident survey’. Some of them were forced to accept the repatriation while forcibly detained ‘disorderly’ reasons.
Shanghai where was the bridgehead of Japanese troops became an economy base for pro-Japanese Koreans after the Sino-Japanese War. In August 1945, Shanghai was crowded with Koreans from central China area with around 5000 people ordinary Korean immigrants who wanted to return to the Korea. Among them, there were women who mobilized for Japanese military ‘comfort women’ left in the field. At this time, Korea Women Mutual Aid Association accommodated women as a group under the name of ‘Rehabilitation aid’. However, there was manager of ‘Japanese army brothels’ in leading figures of Korea Women Mutual Aid Association. Eventually Korean women were swayed by manager of ‘Japanese army brothels’ after the liberation.
Women accommodated by Korea Women Mutual Aid Association started to return to Korea with Korean Restoration Army unit temporarily organized in Shanghai. However, some of them give up return to Korea and Wandered the Shanghai Street were controlled by local authorities. And some hesitated to return home and marry local Chinese. In a conclusion, Women eventually deviated from Japanese imperialism were left at the intersection of liberation and confusion and did not receive any protection and compensation.
