초록

독립운동의 역사에서 상해의거 만큼 큰 성과를 낸 것을 찾기가 쉽지 않다. 상해의거는 1932년 4월 29일 일제가 상해 홍구공원에서 상해사변 전승축하식을 진행할 때 윤봉길이 식단에 폭탄을 던져 상해파견군사령관 시라카와를 비롯한 수뇌부를 처단한 사건을 말한다. 윤봉길이 일본군의 상해사변 전승 축하 행사를 박살냄으로써 일제는 만주사변이후 상해사변까지의 승리가 무색하게 되고 국제적 위신까지 꺾이게 되었다.
윤봉길의 상해의거는 한국인의 독립의지를 전 세계에 인식시키는데 기여하였다. 중국을 비롯한 각국의 언론들은 상해의거에 대하여 보도를 하면서 의거에 대한 찬양과 한국인의 독립 의지를 알리고, 윤봉길을 공경하는 뜻을 표시했다. 또한 상해의거는 국내외 한국인들에게 민족의식을 일깨워 항일전선에 나아가게 하였으며, 미국, 하와이, 멕시코, 쿠바 등에 사는 한인들의 임시정부에 대한 납세와 후원이 이어져 임시정부가 회생하는 계기가 되었다.
상해의거는 만보산사건으로 악화된 중국인의 반한감정을 해소시켰다. 또한 중국의 적극적인 지원과 한중연합 항일투쟁의 계기가 되었다. 장제스와 김구와의 단독 회담이 성사되어 임시정부를 적극 지원하는 계기가 되었으며, 낙양군관학교에 한인특별반을 설치하여 한인 장교를 양성하게 하였다. 중국 동북지역에서 한중연합전선이 형성하는 데에도 기여하였다. 윤봉길의 의거 소식을 라디오로 청취한 중국의 요녕민중자위군 사령관 唐聚五는 조선혁명군 참모장 김학규와 합작 협정에 서명하고 영릉가전투 등 한중연합전투를 수행하여 승리를 거둔 것이다. 윤봉길의 상해의거가 갖는 또 다른 의의는 중국인의 항일정신 고양에도 기여한 점에서 찾을 수 있다. 만주사변과 상해사변에서 일본에 패한 중국으로서는 윤봉길과 같은 청년이 나오기를 고대했다. 이에 따라 윤봉길을 ‘중국의 민족영웅’이며 상해사변의 ’순국열사’라 칭송하면서 중국에도 윤봉길과 같은 인물이 나타나기를 기대하였다. 지금도 중국에서는 윤봉길을 상해사변에서 희생된 열사의 한명으로 기리고 있으니, 한중 양국이 우호와 협력의 길을 쌓아 온 것 역시 상해의거의 영향이 크다 하겠다.

영어초록

In the history of the independence movement, it is not easy to find out an achievement as great as the patriotic deed in Shanghai(上海) of Yoon Bong-gil. On April 29, 1932, when the Japanese Empire organized a ceremony to celebrate victory of the Shanghai incident in Hongkou Park, Yoon Bong-gil l bombed the podium and punished the leading members including the Shanghai Expeditionary Commander Shirakawa Yoshinori (白川義則). Since Yoon Bong-gil destroyed the celebration of the Japanese army’s victory in Shanghai, the victory of the Shanghai incident and the Manchuria Incident was brought to shame, and the international prestige was weakened.
The patriotic deed in Shanghai(上海) of Yoon Bong-gil contributed to the recognition of the Korean independence to the world. The media in China and other countries gave praise about the patriotic deed in Shanghai and reported the will of the Korean people to stand for independence and expressed honor to Yoon Bong-gil. In addition, the patriotic deed in Shanghai also reminded Koreans at home and abroad to go to the anti-Japanese front, and the Provisional Government of Korea could revive by the support of Koreans living in United States, Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba.
The patriotic deed in Shanghai erased the Chinese feelings that were exacerbated by Wanpaoshan Incident(萬寶山事件). It also provided an opportunity for China’s active support and the Korea-China alliance against Japanese empire. The exclusive meeting between Chang Jes(蔣介石) and Kim Gu(金九) provided an opportunity for active support of the Provisional Government of Korea and to establish a special Korean class at Nakyang(洛陽) Military Academy to foster Korean officers. It also contributed to the formation of the Korea-China united front in northeast China. Tang Juwu(唐聚五), the commander of China’s Liaoning People’s Self-Defense Force, who listened to the news on the radio the patriotic deed in Shanghai(上海) of Yoon Bong-gil, signed a joint venture with Kim Hak-kyu, Chief of the Korean Revolutionary Army, and won the victory by performing the Combined Combat in Korea and China. Another significance of the patriotic deed of Yoon Bong-gil was the enhancement of anti-Japanese sentiments of Chinese people. China, which lost to Japan in the Manchurian Incident and the Shanghai Incident, looked forward to seeing a young man like Yoon Bong-gil. As a result, Yoon Bong-gil was called a “China’s national hero” and was praised as “patriotic martyr” of the Shanghai Incident. As China still honors Yoon Bong-gil as one of the martyrs who were sacrificed in the Shanghai incident, the friendship and cooperation between Korea and China has been established must be affected by the patriotic deed of Shanghai.
