대학(원)생의 대화형 인공지능 챗봇 서비스 활용 경험 사례 연구: ChatGPT를 중심으로 (A Case Study on University (Graduate) Students’ Experience using Interactive Artificial Intelligence Chatbot Services: Focusing on ChatGPT)

초록

목적 본 연구에서는 대학(원)생들이 대화형 인공지능 챗봇 서비스인 ChatGPT를 어떻게 활용하고 있고 이에 대해 어떠한 인식을 갖고 있는지 제시하고자 하였다.
방법 이를 위하여 ChatGPT 서비스가 시작된 직후인 2023년 상반기부터 ChatGPT를 자발적으로 사용한 경험이 있는 대학(원)생 6명을 인터뷰한 후 그 내용을 분석하고, 참여자 검토를 거쳐 다시 수정⋅보완하였다.
결과 첫째, 대학(원)생들의 ChatGPT를 처음 사용한 경험에 대한 만족도는 이후의 ChatGPT 사용 빈도 및 신뢰도에 영향을 주었다. 둘째, ChatGPT 사용 목적은 정보/지식 검색, 습득, 확인, 번역, 코드 작성 및 수정, 글쓰기, 윤문, 외국어 학습, 브레인스토밍이었다. 셋째, ChatGPT를 사용하는 목적에 따라 사용 방법이 달라졌다. 브레인스토밍이 필요할 때는 주제나 키워드에 대해 단순하게 질문 하고, 심화 정보 또는 지식이 필요할 때는 분야, 개념, 원하는 답변의 형태 등을 구체적으로 제시하였다. 이해여부 확인이나 구체적인 정보가 필요할 때는 생각을 먼저 정리한 후 질문하였다. 사람과 대화하듯 질문하며, ChatGPT가 제시한 정보와 답변은 그대로 사용 하기 보다는 스스로 검증하고, 필요시 관련 문헌을 찾아보았다. 넷째, 학생들이 인식하는 ChatGPT의 주요 특성은 다양한 지식, 정 보 등에 쉽고 편리하게 접근할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 다섯째, 학생들은 ChatGPT가 시간절약, 아이디어 획득 등 학습에 도움을 주지 만 잘못된 지식과 정보 습득, 추가 확인 필요, 낮은 학습효과 등의 제한점이 있다고 언급하였다.
결론 대학(원)생들은 주도적으로 ChatGPT의 다양한 활용 분야를 경험하고 있으며, 이를 이용하여 학습에 유의미한 도움을 받고 있다. 향후 학생들이 ChatGPT을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있도록 강점과 제한점을 명확히 안내하고 다양한 활용 사례를 발굴 공유하 는 것이 필요할 것이다.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to present how university (graduate) students use ChatGPT, an interactive artificial intelligence chatbot service, and what their perceptions are about it.
Methods In order to achieve research objectives, We interviewed six college (graduate) students who had experience voluntarily using ChatGPT starting in early 2023, immediately after the launch of the ChatGPT service.
Afterwards, we derived research results through the process of interview content analysis, member checking, and revision.
Results First, university (graduate) students' satisfaction with their first experience of using ChatGPT influenced the frequency and reliability of subsequent ChatGPT use. Second, the purpose of using ChatGPT was information/knowledge search, acquisition, confirmation, translation, coding and code modification, writing, foreign language learning, and brainstorming. Third, the method of use changed depending on the purpose of using ChatGPT. When brainstorming was needed, simple questions were asked about topics or keywords, and when in-depth information or knowledge was needed, the field, concept, and type of desired answer were specifically presented. When students checked their understanding or needed specific information, they first organized their thoughts and then asked questions. Additionally, they asked questions as if they were talking to a person, verified the information and answers provided by ChatGPT on their own rather than using them as is, and searched for related literature when necessary. Fourth, students recognized that the main characteristic of ChatGPT is that it provides easy and convenient access to various knowledge and information. Fifth, students mentioned that ChatGPT helps learning by saving time and acquiring ideas, but it has limitations such as acquiring incorrect knowledge and information, need for additional confirmation, and low learning effectiveness.
Conclusions University (graduate) students are actively experiencing various areas of use of ChatGPT and are receiving meaningful help in learning using it. In the future, it will be necessary to clearly guide students on the strengths and limitations and discover and share various use cases so that they can use ChatGPT effectively.
