평안도 다리굿의 음악 구성과 현재적 의의－1981년 이선호·정대복의 다리굿을 중심으로－ (The Musical Composition and Contemporary Significance of Pyeong-An Province Dari-Kut)

초록

이 논문은 1981년 이선호․정대복에 의해 연행된 평안도 다리굿의 음악 구성과 그특징을 분석하고 자료를 통해 드러나는 평안도 굿의 현재적 의의를 고찰한 글이다.
다리굿은 제차에 따라 다양한 무가가 불리며, 선율은 대개 평안도지역의 향토음악어법인 수심가토리에, 장단은 초가망장단과 푸념, 비나수, 덕담, 긴염불, 자진염불장단 등이 사용된다. 드물게 서울지역의 <타령> 무가를 가져다 부르기도 하는데, 이런경우 자연스럽게 굿거리장단이 나타나기도 한다. 이 자료에는 다리굿의 모든 절차와노래(음악)이 비교적 온전히 갖추어져 있으며, 특히 앉은청배에서 부르는 (3+2+3+2)/8박자의 ‘초가망장단’과 느린 박자의 ‘긴염불’ 장단은 현재 전승이 끊긴 점에서1981년 다리굿 자료의 긴요함을 확인할 수 있다. 1981년의 이선호․정대복 일행은평안도굿을 충실하게 연행하고 있으면서도 부분적으로 서울지역의 무가를 적절하게삽입하여 굿을 진행하는데, 이 때 수심가토리에 경토리가 섞인 타령무가를 굿거리장단에 맞춰 부른다. 남한에 옮겨온 평안도 굿은 서울의 악사와 남한의 단골을 아울러야 하는 입장에 처해 있으며, 평안도 굿의 부분적 변모는 변화된 환경에 적응해 가는굿의 한 사례를 보여주는 점에서 의의가 있다.
1981년 시점에서 보이는 북한굿의 변화는 청배나 축원과 같은 굿의 의례적인 부분이 아니라, 신을 놀리거나 단골들을 즐겁게 해주기 위한 유흥의 마당에서 일어나고있는 것이어서 굿의 본질적인 변화는 아닌 것으로 해석된다. 다만, 1981년의 이 자료는 남한에서 연행된 북한 지역의 굿이라는 점과 이를 보완해 줄 적절한 대상 자료가없는 점에서 앞으로 굿의 성격이나 절차, 음악 구성에 대해서는 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.

영어초록

The aim of this study is to examine the musical structure andcharacteristics of Dari-Kut from the Pyeong-An Province and reveal itscurrent significance through analysis of the video material filmed in 1981capturing performances by two Pyeong-An born shamans, Lee Seon-Hoand Jeong Dae-Bok.
Various shaman songs are sung in Dari-Kut according to its ritualprocedures. The underlying melody of Dari-Kut is formed aroundSusimga-Tori, which is the standard musical idiom of the Pyeong-Anprovince. The songs of Dari-Kut also follow a diverse range of rhythmicpatterns which include : Chogamang, Puneom, Binasu, Deokdam,Kin-Yeombul, Jajin-Yeombul, and so forth.
Occasionally, the ‘Taryeong’ song representative of the Seoul provinceis sung, naturally accompanied by the indigenous rhythmic pattern‘Kutgeori’.
Today, the (3+2+3+2)/8 Chogamang rhythm pattern played in theprocedure of inviting spirits, nor the slow and irregular Kin-Yeombulpattern are no longer passed down and performed. The aforementionedvideo material, however, confirms that these rhythmic patterns are muchworth studying.
Every now and then, the shaman troupes of Lee Seon-Ho and JeongDae-Bok sang the shaman songs from Seoul aside from their regularrepertoire. As a result, Taryeong songs were sung following the Kutgeorirhythmic pattern and the influences of Seoul’s Kyeong-Tori within thenative Susimga-Tori can be found.
As the shamans of Pyeong-An moved into South Korea, they had todeal with the new environment. They soon realized that theinstrumentalists they would perform with along with their followers(Dangol) were South Korean. The assimilation that followed demonstrateshow shaman rituals were transplanted into a different provinces.
Up until 1981, the transformation of Dari-Kut had been made throughthe process of entertaining the spirits and its followers, not in the essentialand ritual sense of inviting or praying to the spirits. Thus, it is believedthat this is only a small portion of its complex properties.
However, it is still difficult to judge clearly what the procedure andcharacteristic of Dari-Kut is and how different the organization of themusic is compared to other Pyeong-An province Kut. A major challengelies in that this example of a North Korea’s shaman ritual transplantedinto South Korea may be the only one in existence.
