갑사 구장복의 장문 복원모사 연구 (A Study to Restore and Replicate the Symbol of the King in Gapsa Gujangbok)

초록

본 연구는 국립중앙박물관 소장 갑사구장복(중요민속문화재 제66호)의 장문을 복원모사하기 위하여 유물의 채색안료를 조사하고 장문의 제작기법과 제작과정을 고찰한 것이다. 갑사 구장복의 복원 모사된 장문은 용, 산, 화, 화충, 종이와 불(黻)문이다. 장문의 복원모사는 정확한 형태 고증과 색채 재현을 중요한 과제로 삼았으며, 국립중앙박물관이 실시한 과학적 분석 결과를 바탕으로 형태와 색, 재료 등을 고증하였다. 갑사 구장복의 장문은 황색, 적색, 녹색, 청색, 백색 등 5색을 기본으로 하여 각 장문마다 색을 조합하여 색상을 사용하였다. 안료분석 결과 황색은 금과 황동, 적색은 주사, 녹색은 구리와 비소의 화합물, 청색은 유기안료와 연백의 혼합색, 백색은 은으로 추정되었다. 갑사 구장복의 장문 복원모사시 실제 사용된 안료는 황색은 금분과 황동분, 적색은 주사, 녹색은 석록과 석황의 혼합색, 청색은 쪽과 연백의 혼합색, 백색은 은분이다. 장문의 복원모사는 크게 현의에 그려진 5장문과 중단에 그려진 불문으로 나누어 각각 유물 조사, 밑그림 제작, 문양 모사의 세 가지 과정으로 진행되었으며, 복원모사에 쓰인 재료와 제작과정을 기록으로 남기고자 하였다. 갑사 구장복의 장문 복원모사 연구는 유물의 과학적 조사와 실질적 기법 연구를 바탕으로 장문의 원형을 추정하여 원래의 모습을 되찾고자 이루어졌다.

To restore and replicate the symbol of the king in the Gapsa(fine silk) Gujangbok(King’s Ceremonial Robe with Nine Symbols)(important folklore cultural property no.
66) possessed by the National Museum of Korea, this study investigated the coloring pigments of the relic and considered the fabricating technique and process for thesymbol. The restored and replicated the symbol of the king in the Gapsa Gujangbok is a dragon, mountain, flame, pheasant, vessel and Bul(黻) pattern. The restoration and replication of the symbols was conducted regarding the historical research into the accurate forms of the symbols and the reproduction of the colors as important tasks and ascertained the historical truths of the forms, colors, and materials based on the results of scientific analyses conducted by the National Museum of Korea. The colors of symbols of the Gapsa Gujangbok were made by combining five basic colors; yellow,red, green, blue, and white for individual symbols. Through analyses of the pigments, the yellow pigment was assumed to be gold and brass, the red pigment was assumed to be cinnabar, the green pigment was assumed to be a compound of copper and arsenic, the blue pigment was assumed to be a mixture of organic pigment and white lead, and the white pigment was assumed to be silver. The pigments actually used in the restoration and replication of the symbols of Gapsa Gujangbok were gold and brass powders for yellow, cinnabar for red, a mixture of malachite green, and opiment forgreen, a mixture of indigo and white lead, and silver powder for white. For the restoration and replication of the symbols, the symbols were largely divided into two groups; one group consisting of the five symbols drawn on the robe and the Bul(黻) pattern on the front cloth panel and the restoration and replication progressed through three processes; relic investigation, underdrawing production, and design replication.
Attempts were made to leave the materials used in the restoration and replication and the production processes as records. The study for the restoration and replication ofthe symbols of Gapsa Gujangbok was conducted to estimate the original forms of the symbols based on scientific investigations of the relic and studies of actual techniqueswith a view to restoring the original forms.
