기억의 역사로 본 영등포산업선교회의 노동운동 (The labour movement of Yeongdeungpo Industrial Mission through the historical memories)

초록

한국 기독교인들은 1970년대 유신체제가 탄생한 후, 1987년 6ㆍ10항쟁을 통하여 민주정부를 수립하기까지 다양한 부문의 사회참여 운동을 전개하여 한국사회 민주화운동에서 빠뜨릴 수 없는 존재가 되었다. 특히 기독교 지식인들은 권위주의 체제를 비판하면서 한국사회의 민주화를 진전시켜 나가는 데 중요한 역할을 담당하였고, 반독재민주화 운동을 비롯한 몇몇 부문운동들에서는 그 운동의 형성과 전개에 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 한국교회 민주화 운동에 관한 연구는 지금까지 다양한 차원에서 이루어졌다. 첫째로 기독교 사회참여운동의 배경과 논리에 관한 연구이다.
두 번째로 기독교사회참여운동의 주도세력의 현실 인식과 지향도에 관한연구이다. 세 번째로 기독교 사회참여운동에서 반독재ㆍ민주화운동이 언제 대두되었느냐 하는 문제이다. 넷째로 기독교의 반독재ㆍ민주화운동의주체가 누구인가 하는 문제이다. 다섯째로 노동운동, 도시빈민운동, 청년학생운동, 여성운동 등 부문운동에 관한 연구이다.
그러나 이상과 같이 한국기독교의 민주화운동에 대한 활발한 연구가있지만, 지금까지의 연구들은 진보적 시각의 이데올로기적 접근법을 택하여 독재정권의 탄압에 대한 저항에 그 초점을 맞추었다. 또한 문헌적 연구방법론을 사용하여 역사적 사실에 입각한 실증주의적 역사서술 내지는거대담론의 주관성에 입각한 역사서술을 택해왔다. 이와같은 연구들과 역사서술은 한국기독교 민주화운동의 전체상을 정립하였다고 말하기 어렵다. 특히 노동운동, 농민운동, 도시빈민운동의 경우와 같은 부문운동들은거대담론의 역사쓰기로는 담아낼 수 없는 미시사적 다양한 역사적 층위들이 존재하기 때문이다.
이러한 관점에서 본 논문은 한국기독교 민주화운동에 대한 역사를 일반화된 설명이 아닌 당대의 당사자들이 경험한 것에 대한 기억을 통해서새로운 역사내용을 찾아내고자 한다. 특히 이 논문은 한국현대사의 민주화와 인권운동 과정에서 한 부문운동을 형성했던 노동운동을 구술사적 방법론을 사용하여 기존의 역사쓰기가 생략한 역사적 층위를 드러내고 발굴하고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 본 논문은 먼저 이 글의 역사서술의방법을 제공해주는 구술사와 기억의 의미에 대하여 간략히 살피고, 이어기억의 터로서 영등포산업선교회의 역사를 문헌적으로 고찰할 것이다. 이어 한국현대사의 민주화와 인권운동, 특히 영등포산업선교회를 통하여 노동운동에 투신했던 인명진 목사와 김연자의 구술 녹취록을 통하여 영등포산업선교회의 산업선교 운동의 동기와 역사적 내용, 그리고 산업선교가지닌 역사적 함의를 살필 것이다.

영어초록

From the rise of Yusin Regime in 1970’s to establishing the democratic government in 1987 through 6․10 Democracy Movement, Korean christians played the vital role in democratic movements in Korea society, developing the movement of social participation in various categories. Especially, Korean christian intellectuals, who criticized the structure of authoritarianism,developed the democratization in Korean society and influenced the form and development of anti-despotism and democratic movement.
By this time, the study on democratic movement of Korean christians was in the various level was developed. Frist thing is the background and logic of social participation movement of Christianity. Secondly, it was the recognition of reality and the orientation of leading power in the social participation movement of Christianity. Thirdly, it was the problem the date when anti-despotic and democratic movement was raised in the social participation movement of Christianity. Finally, it was who was the main body of anti-despotic and democratic movement of Christianity.
However, there were active and vibrant research to democratic movement of Korean Christianity, they only focused on the resistance to suppression of despotic government in terms of progressive view as an ideological approach. Moreover, the historical presentation based on the positivism or the subjectivism of enormous discussion was developed by referring literature research. These studies and historical presentations failed to cover the big picture of democratic movement of Korean Christianity. The sectors of its movement, particularly the labour movement, the peasant movement, the movement of the poor in urban, were the microscopic-historical movement that could not be grasped by the historical narrative used the enormous discussion.
In this sense, this paper aimed to find out not the generalized narrative of democratic movement of Korean Christianity, but new historical contents through the memories of the person directly involved. This paper also interpreted the labour movement as a part of democratic and human right movement in the Korean contemporary history by using the historical method of oral statement. For the purpose of this, at the first this paper considered the meaning of memories and oral statement that provided the method of historical interpretation, and then, the history of Yeongdeungpo Industrial Mission through the literature as a site of memories. Finally, this paper considered the democratic and human right movement in Korean contemporary history, and the motivation and historical content of Yeongdeungpo Industrial Mission,particularly through the deposition of In Myeong Jin, a pastor, who devoted himself to labour movement in Yeongdeungpo Industrial Mission, and historical implication of industrial mission.
