성인지감수성의 관점에서 본 청소년소설 (Young Adult Literature from the Perspective of Gender Sensitivity)

초록

본고는 성인지감수성의 관점에서 한국 남녀 청소년들이 어떤 젠더적 위치에 놓여 있는지 청소년소설을 통해 규명하였으며 성범죄에 대한 성인지감수성도 작품을 통해 검토하였다.
남성 청소년을 주인공으로 삼은 작품에서 남성 정체성은 성별 고정관념의 반복을 통해 그리고 남자다움의 구도에 갇혀 여성을 타자화하는 방식으로 형성되고 있다. 또한 한국사회는 여성 청소년의 몸과 성을 억압하고 구속하는 순결규범을 작동시켜 왔다. 청소년소설에서도 여성의 몸을 타자화된 시선으로 바라보는 순결규범이 반복되고 있었다. 한편 청소년소설에서 임신중단의 소재가 등장하는 등 성인지감수성의 변화도 목격된다. 마지막으로 한국사회는 성범죄의 처벌이 강화되는 추세이며 문학에서도 사회 변화를 민감하게 반영하고 바른 방향을 제시할 필요가 있다. 작품 검토 결과 작품들은 대부분 성범죄를 소재의 차원에서 미흡하게 다루고 있음을 확인하였다.

영어초록

This paper looked into Young Adult Literature from the perspective of Gender sensitivity.
First, in a work in which male adolescents are the main characters, male identity is formed by following the prejudice considered to be a female’s shortcomings or striving to behave as masculine. In other words, it was confirmed that the male identity was acquired in the process of carrying out the existing adult male identity. In addition, it was also confirmed that there is a problem of objectifying female characters through learning of the ‘Men’s Plane’ and the position of women’s guardians. In particular, this leaves the task of researching the identity of male adolescents who learn not only the human rights of female adolescents, but also the distorted masculinity by oppressing the sense of subjectivity through the framework of a “man box”.
Second, Korean society has been operating a chastity code that suppresses and restrains female sexuality by calling female adolescents “girls” for a long time. Among the works based on sexual violence in Young Adult Literatures, the follow-up of the chastity norm was continued, and the subject of the right to stop pregnancy, which was recently raised in Korean society, was also found in the work.
Third, the recent Korean society has a tendency to intensify the punishment of sex crimes. Young Adult Literatures do not actively reflect social changes in sex crimes depending on the work. Even in literature, obvious illegal activities should be properly recognized by youth readers. The issue of gender equality should start not with a simple general theory of men versus women, but with the work of examining each relationship and context to make other minorities subject.
Research on Young Adult Literatures from the perspective of Gender sensitivity should continue in the future. This study should include not only the human rights of female adolescents, but also the identity of male adolescents who are forced to distort masculinity by repressing their free and human sense of subjectivity as a “man box”.
