MBTI 4대 지표를 통해 본 唐詩 표현 고찰 (A Study on the Expression of Tang Dynasty Poetry on view point of MBTI theory)

초록

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. These preferences were extrapolated from the typological theories originated by Carl Gustav Jung, and the original developers of the personality inventory were Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. The initial questionnaire grew into the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which was first published in 1962. The MBTI focuses on normal populations and emphasizes the value of naturally occurring differences.
This article was written to study on the expressions of Tang Dynasty Poetry on view point of MBTI theory. Especially, this study is based on judging of MBTI theory’s four dichotomies(ie. Extraversion : Introversion, Sensing : iNtuition, Thinking : Feeling, Judgment : Perception. The four pairs of preferences or dichotomies are shown in the table to the right.), so this article can be mentioned interdisciplinary research. By this study, the conclusion of the Expression of Tang Dynasty Poetry on view point of MBTI theory can be summarized as that :The first, the preferences for extraversion and introversion are sometimes referred to as attitudes of poets and have been influenced to the expression of Tang Dynasty Poetry. This preferences for extraversion and introversion can make Poetry some of outward toward people and objects, action-oriented and desire breadth, or can make more thought-oriented and seek depth, substantial interaction.
The second, sensing and intuition are the information-gathering (perceiving) functions. They describe how new information is understood and interpreted. Individuals who prefer sensing are more likely to trust information that is in the present, tangible and concrete: that is, information that can be understood by the five senses. Those who prefer intuition tend to trust information that is more abstract or theoretical, that can be associated with other information. They may be more interested in future possibilities. They tend to trust those flashes of insight that seem to bubble up from the unconscious mind. By the poet’s preferences for Sensing and intuition, the expression of Tang Dynasty Poetry can be expressed more realistic or abstractive, etc.
The third, thinking and feeling are the decision-making (judging) functions. The thinking and feeling functions are both used to make rational decisions, based on the data received from their information-gathering functions. Those poets who prefer thinking tend to decide things from a more detached standpoint, measuring the decision by what seems reasonable, logical, causal, consistent and matching a given set of rules. Those poets who prefer feeling tend to come to decisions by associating or empathizing with the situation, looking at it ‘from the inside’ and weighing the situation to achieve, on balance, the greatest harmony, consensus and fit, considering the needs of the people involved.
The forth, the judgment and perception are the patterns of behavior functions. Those poets who prefer judgment tend to behave more like set on purpose, planned, aim for completion. Those poets who prefer perception tend to relaxed, more pursuit leisurely manner, and good at adapting themselves to circumstances. By the poet’s preferences for judgment and perception, the expression of Tang Dynasty Poetry can be expressed more sharp, quite shrewd or relaxed and confident, etc.
