초록

The world has consistently tried to keep its own interests and tradition from internationalization and globalization these days. Every country has made a strong effort to preserve a national tradition by designating it as a traditional culture heritage or commercializing a traditional culture. It is important for the convergence of the traditional culture and merchandise to maintain a traditional value for the next generation and create economical added value which is made by combining with various factors like artistry, creativity, entertainingness, leisure, popularity, etc. A patchwork (Jogakbo) is a representative product to enhance the value as a traditional craft. It is a Bojagi that is made by sewing pieces of fabric and is highly evaluated because of its artistry as beauty and color of composition using limited colors. Especially, the traditional patchwork has grown in terms of importance because it could show Korean traditional lifestyle with an aesthetically valuable piece of plastic art. The bedclothes were also produced as the products of a new design using a variety of techniques by making them a target beyond a general form or the purpose of product. Throughout an increasing the diversity for popularization of traditional cultural product, the bedclothes have increased the values as it. This study is significant in that it has expanded the design field of traditional culture product by making the cultural goods use the traditional values and the formative elements. In other words, it proves that by combining ‘Hangul’ and patchwork provides a direction of design for the traditional culture product. In the future, it will show the possibility of a new area on the design of traditional culture product through the convergence among goods with different traditional meanings.
