불교철학의 관점에서 본 명상과 마음치료 (A Review on Meditation and Mind Healing from the Perspective of Buddhist Philosophy)

초록

본 연구에서는 명상과 마음치료의 주요 담론을 불교철학의 관점에서 검토하고, 이 러한 주제들이 전통 불교철학 이론과 상치되지 않기 위해서는 어떤 점을 염두에 두 어야 하는지 살펴보았다. 현대의 명상이나 마음치료가 불교 이론과 상치되지 않기 위해서는 세 가지 정도의 문제를 해결해야 할 것으로 보인다. 첫째는 치료 담론과 수행 담론의 상충이다. 치료는 현형 의료법 체계를 벗어날 수 없으며 엄연히 의료 상거래 행위임에 분명하다. 하지만 불교 수행 이론은 치료 논리와는 전혀 무관하고 경영논리와도 정면으로 배치된다. 둘째는 치료의 인과관과 연기론의 상충이다. 치 료의 인과관은 결정론적, 획일적, 폐쇄적 인과론이다. 이에 비해 불교의 인과관은 연기관인데 그것의 특징은 객관성, 필연성, 불변성, 조건성이라고 설명하고 있다. 셋째는 명상의 행복 담론과 불교 수행의 목적 사이의 관계 설정 문제이다. 수행의 궁극을 행복으로 봐도 무방한지, 인간의 고통을 내면적 요인을 중심으로 파악해도 좋은지의 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 문제를 해결하려는 노력이 뒤 따르지 않는다면, 명상과 마음치료 관련 담론이 불교이론과 부합하는가 하는 문제는 지속해서 제기될 수밖에 없다.

영어초록

In this research, I examined the main discourse of contemporary attention meditation and mind treatment from the viewpoint of Buddhist philosophy. And in order not to compete with the traditional Buddhist philosophy of this topic, I examined what kind of things to keep in mind. In the background of this research, though meditation and treatment of mind centering on healing discourse are positively exploring fusion with Buddhism, it is a problem consciousness that the philosophical examination for this is not sufficient.
There are three issues to be solved in order to make the theoretical and more robuster combination of meditation and mind treatment combined with Buddhist practice. At first, it is a contradiction between treatment discourse and ascetic discourse. Treatment can not escape medical system. It is a strict medical commerce transaction. However, the Buddhist practice theory is irrelevant to the logic of treatment, contradicting the logic of management.
The second is a contradiction between the causality of treatment and the general principle of interdependent causation (Pratītyasamutpāda). The causal theory of treatment is deterministic, uniform, closed. Compared with this, Buddhist interdependent causation implies objectivity (tathata), (2) necessity (avitathata), (3) invariability (anahnathata), and (4) conditionality (idappaccayatā). The third is to establish a relationship between the happiness of meditation and the purpose of Buddhist asceticism. There is a problem as to whether it is seen even if it satisfies the goal of the execution, and whether it is possible to grasp the suffering of human beings mainly by inner factors.
In order to combine meditation and treatment of mind with Buddhism execution, it is necessary to clarify these problems. And efforts to solve the problem based on such problem awareness must accompany. Otherwise the question on whether meditation and mind treatment discourse to conform to Buddhist philosophy will continue to be raised.
