內浦 지역 누정문학 연구: 忠淸水營의 永保亭을 중심으로 (A Study on Nujeong(Pavilion) Literature in Bay Region - With focus on Yeongbo-Pavilion(永保亭) of Chungcheong Suyeong)

초록

본고는 2015년 11월에 보령시에서 복원한 영보정의 역사 문화적 원형의 모습을 살펴보고 지역 문화와 관련된 콘텐츠 자료를 제공하는 데 조금이나마 보탬이 되고자 기획한 것이다. 이를 통해 그동안 주목받지 못했던 내포지역의 문화사를 재조명하고 나아가 내포의 대표 명승 정자를 매개로 한 문학적 전승과 구현 양상을 살펴보는 데에 그 목적이 있다.
영보정은 충청수영 안에 위치한 명승 정자로서, 서해안의 절경을 품고 있는 유람의 대상이지만 한편으로는 잦은 왜구의 침입을 방비하는 국가수호의 책무가 우선이었던 특수한 성격을 지닌 곳에 위치하였다. 따라서 ‘永保’라는 정자 이름에 국토 수호와 人和, 與民同樂 등의 安保와 그를 통해 영원토록 아름다운 경치를 즐기고자 하는 景觀之樂의 상징적인 의미를 담은 것이다. 본고에서는 1504년 영보정이 처음 창건되었을 때 지은 기문과 이후 지어진 중수기를 통해 영보정의 창건과 역사 및 의미를 살펴보았다. 아울러 영보정의 승경과 그와 관련한 문학적 작품들에 대해 고찰하였다. 역대 많은 문인들은 내포 지역의 地勢와 潮水의 아름다움을 포착하고 영보정 주변 풍광을 문학적으로 묘사하여 절경으로 이름난 영보정을 유람하고 그 흥취를 기록하였다. 낮은 구릉과 조수 간만의 차가 만들어내는 만과 섬의 풍경들은 영보정 특유의 절경을 이루어내고 이 때문에 충청 내포의 대표적인 유람지가 되기도 하였다. 다른 지역에 비해 충청의 누정문학에 대한 연구는 그동안 별다른 관심을 받지 못하였고 축적된 연구성과도 미비한 실정이다. 차후에 지속적인 관심과 문헌자료에 대한 소개가 필요하고, 복원을 위한 기초 자료를 다양하게 제공할 필요가 있다고 여겨진다.

영어초록

This writing was planned in a bid to look into the appearance of the historical & cultural original form of Yeongbo-Pavilion, which was restored by Boryeong-si in November, 2015, and to be of what little bit of help to providing content data related to the regional culture. Through this writing, this study intended to aim to shed new light on the cultural history of the bay region which has failed to get close attention all the while, and further to look into literary transmission and realization aspects through the medium of the representative pavilion of scenic beauty of the bay region.
On the one hand, Yeongbo-Pavilion, as the one of scenic beauty located within Chungcheong Suyeong, was the object of sightseeing as it embraced picturesque scenery of the west coast, but on the other, it is located at the place assuming an unusual character, in which a top priority was put on a duty of national protection for defense against the frequent invasion of Japanese raiders.
Accordingly, the pavilion name of ‘Yeongbo’ includes national security, such as territory protection, harmony, and Yeomindongnak(與民同樂;A king shares the happiness with the people), etc., and a symbolic meaning of pleasure of landscapes intending to enjoy elegant landscapes eternally therethrough.
This study looked into the foundation, history and meaning of Yeongbo-Pavilion through the documents written when Yeongbo-Pavilion was first founded in 1504, and the repairing records written afterwards. Also, this study considered the beautiful scenery possessed by Yeongbo-Pavilion, and its related literary works.
Many literary persons of many generations made a tour of Yeongbo-Pavilion noted for its scenic masterpiece, and recorded their excitement by grasping and expressing the beauty of geographical features, and tidal changes of the bay region in a literary sense, including the surrounding scenes of Yeongbo-Pavilion.
The landscapes of the bays and islands made by low hills and tidal changes created a superb view peculiar to Yeongbo-Pavilion, which used to make this Pavilion become a representative tourist destination of the Chungcheong bay region. Comparing to other regions, the research on Nujeong(Pavilion)literature of Chungcheong-do has failed to get attention in particular all the while, and actually, its accumulated research results are in a insufficient state. This study considers that Nujeong(Pavilion)literature of Chungcheong is in need of continuous concern and introduction of bibliographic data as well as diverse provision of basic data for its restoration hereafter.
