朱權 『茶譜』에 나타난 ‘淸’의 미학에 대한 고찰 (A study on the aesthetics of ‘Serenity(淸)’ in the 《Genealogy of Tea》(茶譜) written by Zhu Quan)

초록

본 논문은 明代 朱權이 쓴 『茶譜』에 담긴 심미 사상 중 ‘淸’의 사유를 미학적 측면에서 고찰하고자 한 것이다. 세속과 인욕에 힘들어 지쳐 있던 朱權은 林下의 茶林 속에서 茶事를 통해서 마치 茶樹가 萬木之魁인 것처럼 자기 자신은 권력과 세류의 우두머리가 아닌 春陽의 우두머리가 되고자 한다. 朱權이 茶林 속에서 직접 茶를 끓이며 자신만의 茶法과 茶具를 통해 茶事의 심미적 체험을 이루고자 했던 모든 것을 가능하게 한 것이 茶가 주는 ‘淸’의 심미이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 朱權의 은일 지향적 삶에 나타난 淸의 심미를 心의 淸, 茶侶와 茶談의 淸, 茶具의 淸으로 나누어 기술하고자 하였다.
먼저 2장에서는 朱權의 은일 지향적 삶과 『茶譜』의 저술 동기를 살펴보았다. 황권의 주 세력에서 밀려나 은일적 삶을 선택한 朱權은 茶를 자신의 동반자로 여기게 되어 茶가 갖는 의미를 철학적 차원에서 규정하였는데, 그 의미가 淸이라는 용어로 귀결되었다.
제3장에서는 心의 淸을 논하였다. 朱權이 세속과 정사에서 멀어지고자 한 傲物翫世의 隱逸적 心淸의 맥락은 陶淵明의 心遠의 경지에 해당하고, 茶를 통해서 내재적 정신수양의 心擴을 통해서 이루어낸 심미적 관조의 특징이 心의 淸이었다.
제4장에서는 茶侶와 茶談의 淸을 논하였다. 朱權이 茶를 같이 즐기고자 하는 부류의 格은 속세에 의미를 두지 않는 絶塵境의 淸을 이루고 있는 사람들이며, 정신적인 것에 들어가서 외적인 것을 초연하는 棲神物外의 淸을 유지하는 사람들이다. 또한, 그러한 사람들과의 茶談은 천지조화에 동참하고 허현을 탐색하는 淸한 談論들이면서 만상을 驚寒의 세계로 이끄는 茶談들이었다.
제5장에서는 茶具의 淸을 논하였다. 朱權은 茶具의 재질을 논함에 있어서 淸身의 관점을 기반으로 하고 있었고, 茶性을 유지하는 保淸의 관점에서는 法古를 따르면서도 淸雅하고 淸佳한 아름다움과 淸白함을 자신의 기준으로 삼아 古今의 묘합을 이루고자 하였다.
이상 논한 것을 보면 朱權은 茶가 주는 淸의 의미를 통해 茶라는 것이 단순한 양생을 위함이 아닌 철학과 미학적 차원에서 규명한 것임을 알 수 있었다.

영어초록

This paper is intended to consider the aesthetics of ‘Serenity(淸)’ among many ideas contained in《Genealogy of tea》(茶譜) written by Zhu Quan (朱權) during the Ming Dynasty.
Tired of worldly life and human greed, he wants to be the head of spring not the leader of power or the flow of the world through the tea-related works in the tea forest as if tea tree were the head of all trees. In the tea forest, he made his own tea and achieved aesthetic experiences of tea-related works through his own tea-making methods and tools. What made it all possible was the aesthetics of ‘Serenity(淸)’ given by tea. In this paper, I intended to describe the serenity of his reclusive life by dividing the serenity of the mind, the serenity of the tea-friends, the serenity of the tea-discussions, and the serenity of tea-tools.
First, Chapter 2 looked at his reclusive-pursued life and the motivation for writing 《Genealogy of Tea》(茶譜). He chose to live a reclusive life after being pushed out of the main power of the imperial power, and he regarded tea as his partner, defining the meaning of the tea at a philosophical level, which resulted in the term ‘Serenity(淸)’.
Chapter 3 discussed the serenity of mind. Zhu Quan’s reclusive mind-serenity that doesn't follow the world is the same as Tao Yuan Ming’s profound mind. The characteristic of the aesthetic contemplation achieved through the expansion of the mind of internal mental discipline through tea was the serenity of the mind.
Chapter 4 discussed the serenity of tea-friends and tea-discussions. The class of people Zhu Quan wants to enjoy the tea together is people who are achieving the serenity without putting any meaning to the world, and people who are maintaining the serenity by entering the mental thing and putting out the external things. Also, the tea-discussions with such people were the serene discourse that led all things in the universe to an amazing world, joining the harmony of heaven and earth, and exploring deep and profound things.
Chapter 5 discussed the serenity of tea-tools. Zhu Quan was based on serene-body's perspective in discussing the material of tea-tools, and followed the old ways in the perspective of keeping nature of tea, and intended to harmonize the old and the present taking serene grace and beauty as his basis. From what we have discussed so far, Zhu has shown that the meaning of ‘Serenity(淸)’ given by tea is not just for taking care of his health but for philosophical and aesthetic level.
