『삼국사기』 「신라본기」의 별자리목록과 천문성변기록 분류 연구 (A Study on the Star Chart of Silla, and a Classification of Its Astronomical Abnormalities as Recorded in the Samguksagi)

초록

이 연구는 필자가 선행 연구에서 제시한 천변기록 분류 범주 편목안에 따라 『삼국사기』 「신라본기」의 천변기록을 분류하고, 이 중 성변기록을 중심으로 이를 중국사의 천변기록과 비교하여 『삼국사기』 「신라본기」 천변기록의 성격을 판명하려 한 연구이다. 이를 통해 『삼국사기』 「신라본기」 천변기록의 일부 오류를 교정하는 한편, 신라의 천문관측성의 독자성과 독립성을 확인하려 하였다.
『삼국사기』 「신라본기」의 천변기록 중, 성변기록은 크게 5시기의 것으로 분류할 수 있다. 제1기(2세기 이전 건국기)의 성변기록은 『한서』･『후한서』 등 중국의 성변기록을 참조한 것이 많다고 판단되며, 이후 약 500년간 성변기록은 공백을 보인다. 이후 제2기(7세기 통일기), 제3기(8세기 전반기), 제4기(8세기 후반기), 제5기(9세기 전반기) 중 특히 제2기, 제3기에는 첨성대의 건립을 시작으로 천문제도가 정비되고 당의 역법･천문도가 수입되었다. 이를 반영하듯, 이 시기 이후 「신라본기」의 성변기록에서는 독립적, 독자적 성격이 두드러진다. 성변의 발생 위치나 參大星 등의 독자적 성좌명, 숫자기일법 등의 특징 또한 신라 성변기록의 독자적 가치를 밝혀주는 것으로 주목된다.
『삼국사기』의 삼국 「본기」에 수록된 혜패성 기록을 함께 검토하였을 때, 삼국기와 달리 통일기 신라의 혜패성 기록은 중국 기록과 독립적인 것으로 나타난다. 한편, 혜성 기록 중 핼리혜성에 대한 기록은 없는 것으로 판단하였다. 그 밖에 『삼국사기』의 태백주현 기록 또한 대체로 간소하다는 한계가 있지만, 독자성이 높은 것으로 주목된다.

영어초록

In this paper, I classified the records on astronomical heavenly abnormalities(天變) in the Annal of Silla in Samguksagi, following ‘The classification and catalog chart on astronomical heavenly abnormalities’ I already wrote in the earlier paper. Then, I compared them with the ones, mainly astronomical abnormalities of stars(星變), in Chinese historical books. Thereby, I tried to reveal the characteristics of the records in Samguksagi. Consequently, I could correct a few errors of the records in Samguksagi, and find out originality and independence of them, recorded in Silla.
I could divide a timeline of astronomical abnormalities of stars fundamentally by five eras. Records in the 1st era(~2th century, the era of founding states) seem to refer to the ones of Chinese books like Book of Han(『漢書』) and Book of Later Han(『後漢書』). After that era, there is a vacuum period for nearly 500 years. The other eras are the 2nd era(7th century, the era of unification of Three kingdoms), 3rd era(early 8th century), 4th era(late 8th century), and 5th era(early 9th century). Astronomical observation of Silla was systemized after the construction of Cheomseongdae(瞻星臺), and Silla imported calendar systems and celestial maps of Tang dynasty, in the 2nd and 3rd era. Since then, I could find original and independent characters of the records on astronomical abnormalities of stars in the Annal of Silla. Especially, some aspects of records like the occurrence locations of abstronomical abnormalities of stars, original names of stars in Silla, date-counting methodology by numbers(not sexagenary names) show the rich value of it.
I also analyzed the records on the guest stars(comets) in the Annals of Three kingdoms in Samguksagi. By this way, I could find out that the records of unified Silla have abundant originality comparing with the Chinese ones, not like the records of Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla before the unification. Meanwhile, there were no records on Halley’s comet in Samguksagi. Although the records on ‘the appearance of Venus in the daytime(太白晝見)’ in Samguksagi is not so many and detailed, those records are also rich in originality.
