書體에 나타난 書藝美學 연구 ― 漢字의 書體演變을 중심으로 ― (A Study on the Aesthetics of Calligraphy in the Calligraphic style - Focusing on the extending change of Calligraphic style in the Chinese characters)

초록

서예는 문자를 소재로 표현되어지는 동양예술의 정수로, 특히 한자서예는 시대적인 변천에 따라 다양한 서체로 연변되면서 그 형태와 풍격이 다르게 표현되어 졌다. 초기 先史시대의 도기상의 기호로 표시된 ‘문자성을 지닌 부호’에서 시작되어 篆書⋅隸書⋅草書⋅楷書⋅行書로 다양하게 변천하여, 唐代이후로는 서예가들의 개인적인 풍격이 표현되는 서풍을 이루게 되었다.
본고에서는 書體의 변화가 가장 크게 나타나는 전국시대의 隸變을 기점으로 나누어 먼저 三代(夏⋅殷⋅周)의 서체가 甲骨文, 金文, 籒文으로 연변되어 가는 과정에서 나타나는 종교적인 의식과 大篆이 小篆으로의 연변되어 가는 과정에 나타나는 法家思想의 영향을 먼저 살펴보고, 고문자체계에서 금문자체계로 바뀌는 예변이후의 다양한 서체 연변과정과 완성된 시점의 사상적 배경을 살피고자 하였다. 이에 예서로의 연변과정과 審美意識, 초서로의 연변과정과 禪宗思想, 해서로의 연변과정과 尙法精神, 행서로의 연변과정과 玄學思想으로 나누어 고찰하였다.
이와 같이 여러 유물을 통한 서체 연변과정의 고찰은 서체가 한 개인에 의해 발명된 것이 아니라 긴 세월 동안 실용적인 필요와 심미적인 요구에 의해 점진적으로 발전해 온 것임을 알 수 있으며, 서체의 연변이 단순한 형식의 변화에 그치는 것이 아니라, 각 시대의 문학⋅사학⋅철학과 깊은 관련이 있고, 儒⋅佛⋅道 등의 여러사상과도 밀접한 관련이 있음을 알 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 연구를 통해서 다변하는 정보화시대의 서체는 어떻게 변모할 것인가에 대한 방향제시와 함께 현 서단에서 일어나고 있는 전통서예와 응용서예와의 갈등을 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이며, 서예미학에 관한 관심도 증폭시킬 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Calligraphy is the essence of the Oriental art which is expressed in the subject of characters. Especially, the calligraphy of Chinese characters was expressed into the different forms and styles extending and changing to the various styles of calligraphy.
In the early prehistory, the Chinese characters were only signs on the pottery with the nature of characters. But as the time went by, the signs changed into Jeonseo(篆書), Yeseo(隸書), Choseo(草書), Haeseo(楷書), Haengseo(行書).Calligraphers made the various styles of calligraphy with their own styles from the Tang age.
In this thesis, starting from the Age of the Warring states which showed up the big change in the calligraphic styles, I'd like to consider the religious consciousness which was appeared in the course that the calligraphic styles for three periods(夏, 殷.周) had changed to Gapgolmun(甲骨文), Keummun(金文), and Joomun(籒文) at first. And I tried to contemplate the influence of Beopgasasang(法家思想) (scholars insisted that respecting the law and inflicting the heavy punishment was the basic principle for governing a country) which was showed in the course of changing Daejeon(大篆) to Sojeon(小篆).
And also, I tried to research the variously changing process of calligraphic styles and the background of thought in the completed point since the system of old characters changed to the system of Keummunja. I'd like to divide the content into 4 parts, changing process to Yeseo and aesthetic consciousness, changing process to Choseo and the thought of Zen, changing process to Haeseo and the spirit of respecting laws, and changing process to Haengseo and the thought for profound learning.
We can learn that the research into the changing process of calligraphic styles through many remains was not created by one person, but also was gradually developed for long time by the needs of the pragmatism and aestheticism. We can learn the changing process of calligraphic style was not only change of forms but also closely related to the literature, history and philosophy of each time. In addition, we can say it was related to the confucianism, the Buddhism and Taoism.
Today, we live in the varying information-oriented society. Calligraphic style is varying, as well. Through this research, I hope many people will understand the present conflicts between traditional calligraphy and applied calligraphy with the presentation of direction for the future calligraphy.
Futhermore, I expect them to have great concern about the calligraphy aesthetics.
